Got myself a movie combo I wanted to get for a while.

I'm sure, even though it was released after the end of the LD era, that you can recognize the movie I'm making reference to!

found this, a $5000.00 pro-grade digital camera, at my local GOODWILL for a whopping $10.00.

scare up some memory cards for it, find that, being based upon elements of NIKON design,
using lots of off the shelf NIKON parts, and employing NIKON's F-MOUNT lens mounting system,
it is fully compatible with my existing NIKON D5000's lenses.

four AA alkaline and 2 CR123A lithium later, it works, damn well indeed for a 2002 DigiCam...

Invested some money in an Ikea furniture, Kallax. Stylish, yet so simple furniture that really makes the laserdisc collection shine.
Also invested in three Gnedby that makes up for my ever-growing Blu-ray and DVD collection. :)

Ajkea möbler är dom doppelt så dyre i Norge än vad det kostar i Sverige?

I don't think there is any difference in price. Ikea has really stepped up and now delivers mostly quality products. I remember back in the past, the name "Ikea" had a bad reputation when it came to loose and flimsy construction and the needed parts for mounting were missing.

I ordered the Audioquest Nighthawk Carbon headphones with the perch headphone stand. I also ordered the McIntosh MHA50 portable headphone dac/amp. I am upgrading from the Bowers & Wilkins P7 headphones and the Audioquest Dragonfly Red portable headphone dac/amp. The current set was disappointing. If the new set doesn’t substantially improve it, I will give up headphone listening all together.

Hey je280 and xtempo,

Glad you think so too!! TBH I've not been a tape collector at all in adult life - once used to record favourite movies and shows off TV onto beta as a kid, but later become one of those people more likely to come up with VHS alternates like 'Very Horrible System" etc.

Only my passion for Muse LD and that very early consumer HD or Hi-Vision as the Japanese term it led to discovering and exploring W-VHS. Have done a few recordings off blu-ray as well as Muse LD and have to say it's pretty impressive for early 90's analogue home recording. Strictly speaking not true HD by specification at 8 MHz bandwidth, but it is 1035i and the image really is very impressive. Currently working on accumulating some more W-VHS tapes which I'll record some selected movies onto to showcase the format. Uses a metal tape rather than ferric oxide which will mean something to you all who remember the good old compact cassette. Even D-VHS went back to using ferric oxide tape as they are cheaper and since D-VHS recorded an MPEG signal with associated digital error correction that level of tape quality became less relevant.

The W1 & follow up W5 do come up fairly frequently on YJP, I've not really compared prices to D-VHS as that format steps into totally digital processing and storage/delivery which goes a step beyond my collecting interest. Unlike D-VHS there is no pre-recorded software other than the demo tape "Great America" which seems to feature sequences also included in a couple of Muse LD releases.

Recently bought an original Sharp monitor for my X68000. It arrived trashed, which was very disappointing since it wasn't cheap. Spent a couple of days gluing the case back together with epoxy. Doesn't look pretty, but at least it is solid. Thankfully the electronics doesn't appear to have taken any damage, but the image does suffer a little bit of pincushion distortion which I don't know how to repair. Curved sides aside, this CRT monitor is the solution I have been looking for. Sharp image and no delay when switching screen modes.
