Pretty much how I feel, and I saw this one in theaters (only ran in theaters for 2 days in the US).

Like, I feel Clerks, Mallrats, and Dogma are legitimately good movies, but there's a lot of stinkers in there as well.

I did like Tusk and Red State though, I know I'm in the minority on those.

I like everything Kevin Smith when it's related to Jay and Silent bob.

Like most of the movies with them in it and the animated show.

Just bought a D-VHS/D-Theater deck. The most common one--JVC HD30000U.

Not sure if I'm going to buy a whole lot of D-Theater tapes, but I am going to experiment a lot with the recording capabilities.

Hobby Master 1/72 Diecast M60A1 ERA (US Marines circa '90). Not cheap but this is incredible with no work. Just need to give it a wash and it'll be table ready to support my 20mm US Marine infantry:

Apparently it interacts with the GX-86 Yamato, but I don't own that one. All the electronics can be triggered without, fortunately.

For me this is one of the best purchases of all time.

My third copy of the almighty Death Flash on VHS coupled with another VHS I've had in my watch list for a couple of years now.

The fairly hyperare The Avenger. I found a copy a few weeks back in a job lot but the courier company (Hermes) 'lost' the parcel. To this day it's still lost. I bet some shmuck saw it and robbed me of my joy... :(

I found an Israeli copy on VHS but the seller wanted silly money for it plus it has burned in subtitles.

There are US laserdisc and VHS editions but we all know it costs about $6.2m to ship a microbe or a single atom of oxygen to anywhere outside the USA so my dreams were shattered. The US LD is still for sale and, like Bart Simpson and Radioactive Man #1, I dream one day of holding it in my arms... :(

Getting Death Flash to go with my other two copies of it was wonderful. Getting The Avenger alongside it, a UK edition no less so ULTRARARE, ranks up there with the time I lucked upon a Japanese VHS of Speed Driver a couple of years ago for a bargain price (cheapest I've seen otherwise was ¥30,000 which sold a few years ago).

A happy weekend for me. Seller photo but I couldn't wait to share with (hopefully) fellow nerds! :)

eMac G4/1GHz/ATI/combo A1002 model (PowerMac4,4). Everything works well, tube and case are in excellent condition.

Came with:
original Pro kb & mouse
original software install/restore DVD (OSX 10.2.4)
Apple hardware test CD
original user's guide book

Still has only a 60GB HDD but the ram was upgraded to 640MB at some point. Still has combo optical drive.

Both of those movies look very enjoyable. Nice score.

Got super lucky and added another VHS tape to my very small collection. There's a bit of history on this one too.

The original English title is High Crime (I forget the actual original Italian title). This is a UK VHS with the title The Marseilles Connection.

Copies of the VHS under the High Crime title are not that uncommon, though they command a high price. The Marseilles Connection though I don't recall seeing a copy for sale any time recently and I've been looking a while. Hopefully the run times are the same.

Now, there was talk of a Blu Ray from a 4K remaster due in 2017/18 but it never materialised and i believe the label who announced it closed their doors. How much of the remaster was done I have no idea. It may even be stuck now in licensing hell.

So, in essence, the best way to watch this film is on VHS as there is no DVD version (only bootleg VHS DVD-R transfers) and I don't think there is an LD or CED version?

If anyone can help me fill in the blanks that would be fantastic and much appreciated. High Crime is the one that really started it all when it comes to 70's Italian Eurocrime films. A proper gem and a seriously tough, action-packed cop thriller!

Seller photo as I couldn't wait. :)

Done a little more digging on High Crime / The Marseilles Connection and found some interesting information if anyone is interested.

It looks like it was censored for an X certificate in 1974 but the runtime submitted pre-cuts was a whopping 102 minutes long!

https://bbfc.co.uk/releases/high-crime

However, note that Studio Canal submitted the film again in 2019 but it doesn't say what it was for! Searching the Studio Canal website brings up nothing. It was also passed uncut but with a runtime of 96 mins so it may be an already censored print?

https://bbfc.co.uk/releases/high-crime-1973

Finally, searching for The Marseilles Connection brings up the Midas VHS that I have coming my way. This one was submitted in February 1986 and passed uncut!

Again, it could be a pre-censored print from the censored 1974 submission.

https://bbfc.co.uk/releases/marseilles-connection

As far as I can see there was definitely NO release on LD, CED or DVD anywhere (bootleg R0 DVD/DVD-R aside). The mystery of the 2019 BBFC submission remains.

Is it the new 4K remaster, and if so, what the heck did Studio Canal have to do with it? Possible cinema short run?

Thought to post this for like-minded folks who may be in to this research stuff. :)

Too true. Shipping on a 17 manga lot I won is brutal. I knew it would be but daaamn.

Going to have to consolidate ld packages I think.

Heaps (it really is a lot) of VHS tapes get thrown out at work but they're heavily abused and mostly ex-rental.
I wouldn't really know what's special...clamshell stuff sells well even if it isn't really old (eg Disney).

Think the last couple I got for myself were:
A Force of One - Chuck Norris (clamshell). Someone binned this so I salvaged it, not ex rental and the packaging isn't damaged/discoloured.
Star Wars Droids - The Adventures of Mungo Baobab. Cover slip has obvious wear but this tape isn't so easy to find now, hard case had some damage so I replaced it.

funny you mention that, as me and my sister just got off the DVD double feature release, which includes that, and one other... Movie? Special? T.V. Series Compilation?

i've actually no idea what these were ever meant to be, but all the same, they were generally so bad that they were good.

STAR WARS sometimes, People...  :? :wtf:

I opted for doing the cheapest options, forget right now but didn't pay the extra to have them examine each package.
Only had 1 lost disc from it, it ended up being cheaper than paying for each package check.

Each would have been an extra 30 or 40 bucks and the broken disc was only 15.
