a few days ago I bought an OelBach Phase tester, when you plug the cord the proper way (in phase) in the outlet you get better performance from you electronics.
phase tester is a great device for europeans using earthed (schuko) and non earthed power plugs.

non-earthed plugs are sneaky buggers to determine the phase.
a phase pen is not very accurate on non-earthed plugs

Oelbach phase tester is a great investment to improve electronics performance

Just bought a Playstation 2 backward compatible Playstation 3 from a seller on Craigslist.

Had the SACD logo on it so I was thrilled to find it!

I found a 60gb phat model not too long ago, just picked up component cables for it, its an improvement over composite even at 480i

I'll have to pick up some SACDs some time to try with it, I just try not to run it too long, I'm always afraid it's going to overheat!

I had a phat PS3 that I use to be able,to take apart so I could reflow the board by memory. I finally sold it when I got an Oppo to a gamer with full disclosure of the frequent repairs. I still got about half of the cost of the the PS3 SLIM that replaced it. Now for the late turntable find. I picked up a NOS Audio-Technica AT14S cartridge with a ATS14 Shibata stylus..can't wait to try it out on my Sansui SR 4050 TT. And here it is.

To celebrate the miraculous resurection of my Wega Trinitron HR36 a bunch of old Hong Kong flicks (and some Takeshi Kitano) stuff from YesAsia. Mostly Fortune Star Joysales versions (excellent widescreen transfers). Mostly classics I used to watch resubbed on Australian SBS TV growing up in the 90s (They would put nice clear yellow subs and "Australianise" the language while fixing the general grammar and vocabulary (new translations?). Wasn't uncommon for Yuen Biao to have a tinny with his mates before bashing some wowsers and telling them to get stuffed haha) or on video CDs or bootleg tapes. some stuff I've never seen before or heard of but look good, like Fury (1988). What could go wrong with leather gloves, rolled sleeves and a silenced Colt M635? :D Also looking forward to seeing young Kitano in '80s Sydney haha,

Isn't Amerikan koffee at diners boiled this way:
1 scoop of koffee powder on 50 scoops of water in the kettle = zero taste! :o :wtf:
makes you sleepy on D-kaff.

I know koffee in Amerika was brewed this way many years ago.
Nowadays maybe diners added 2 scoops of koffe powder on 50 scoops water?

what does Amerikan koffee taste nowadays?
I hope it tastes like international koffee?

I just got 3 discs in the mail: UHD+BD of La La Land, UHD+BD of Labyrinth and the BD of Mad Max: Fury Road. Mad Max: Fury Road and La La Land are new to me. The UHD+BD of Labyrinth is the 30'th anniversary edition. I have a DVD of Labyrinth that I bought in the late 1980's and thus the movie is not new to me.

Joey : it really depends where you go to buy your coffee. One thing is certain... It is stale, tasteless, and very very bitter ......Thus I roast my own beans for FRESH LIVING COFFEE ..... TRUE SUPERFOOD !

Rein-o : My uncle just gave me a cold press carafe recently. Have yet to try it out. One thing is certain, fresh roasted coffee is not bitter one bit ........

LDDB Members : Youtube some of the TEDX lectures by the coffee guru's and the truth will be self evident.... Peeps have been roasting coffee beans over open fires for thousands of years. Over 1500 chemical reactions take place. If brewed within seven days anti-oxidant anti-oxygen free radical destroying molecules are present along with other health enabling properties........
I have been roasting my own beans for over six months now ..... no going back to stale dead coffee ......

My personal preference is Kona beans from the big island of Hawaii .......

Get after it mates ........

Today I got a new Commodore 64 power supply made by a nice gentleman in the US. The old PSUs tend to go bad and could in the worst case feed bad voltage and damage the old computers. This new PSU should help reduce any risk of failure. :)

Post subject:  Re: What was the last Product you bought? (Except Laserdisc)

Maybe that's a proper thread for my question (no need to create a new one)!

My DELL XPS L502X from 2012 is reaching its end of life:
  • Core i7-2630QM@2Ghz
  • Full HD nVidia GeForce GT 525M
  • DVD
  • JBL speakers
  • 700G HDD
  • 8G RAM
  • Win7 x64

Can't update to Windows 10 as the webcam isn't compatible.

My previous problem was that I needed the optical sound output for 5.1or HD Audio replay but that was fixed recently with an HDMI audio split with a Radiance 2144 for 96Khz-24bit + 5.1ch and OPPO BDP-105 for 192Khz-24bit 2ch over USB DACs.

No more dependence on older hardware, it's time to move up!

What models would you recommend these days for a mid-to-high end laptop with great 15" display for video, 1 or 2 HDMI out, lots of USB ports, great nVidia/AMD 3D, rather on the light side for carry it around easily.

Not starting a HP vs Lenovo vs DELL vs SONY vs [insert your favorite here] war.
Just looking for up-to-date recommendations, Xmas is coming soon :-)

Sony don't make laptops anymore.

Had to buy my Sony VAIO VPCZ21AJ new old stock from Rakuten last year.

I only buy business grade laptops, they just last longer.

If I was you and I wanted something that looked good and will last I'd look at the current (non Sony) VAIOs. They're aimed at the business market in Japan.

An HP L1950 monitor for my computer. It is dirt cheap and it is much better built than the current Edge LED screens that bleed backlight all over the place
