London Literally Goes To War In Glorious Teaser Trailer For The Peter Jackson-Produced ‘Mortal Engines’
by Anton Volkov
You read that right. After debuting in U.S. theatres with screenings of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Universal has finally released the first look at Peter Jackson's next project, an adaptation of Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines. Watch it below:

View now on youtube I am impressed!

Many years after the “Sixty Minute War,” cities survive a now desolate Earth by moving around on giant wheels attacking and devouring smaller towns to replenish their resources.

Co-written and produced by Peter Jackson, directed by Christian Rivers, and starring Robert Sheehan, Hera Hilmar, Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Leila George, Ronan Raftery and Stephen Lang, Mortal Engines is released in the U.S. and UK on December 14, 2018.

WOW thanks for posting this, I was unaware of this film or the story and it seems very interesting and also very much in the way of the world now just without wheels.

Not excited about all the CGI but still interested in seeing this.

Will look terrible.

It's safe to say in 2017 that CGI will ALWAYS look a little off. They've had 20 years of mainstream large scale practice and exponential growth in computer power to prove it can blend in with real stuff. It still can't and it never will.

Go back and look at 2001: A Space Odyssey to remember again just how good real effects can look.

What's the reference for CGI with live actors? Garfield? lol.

This whole movie sounds like a ripoff of Unicron in Transformers by the way

Really? When was the last time a small settlement was devoured or even captured just for resources? You could argue ISIS was a force "devouring" populations but it really just wanted to be in power in the region, not to take the resources and roll on.

This also reminds me of a story or part in Robot Carnival.
It was the carnival that was rolling through the desert/earth.

benmbe, thanks for this thread ....

Is this a limited release in the states ? I understood that it had a Dec 14 release date however no sign of it in my neck of the woods ......
Respect to forpers critique however I am going to view and judge for myself.

Been an avid Sci Fi fan since I could read, am half starved for good movies late in life due to lack of story/screenplay integrity. Had the good fortune to bear witness to good cinema and storylines all through life mostly.....
Thank the Sky Gods that books are still being printed. If unsure what a book is please "google" .......

Thanks to all the lame remakes of original genius creations I have looked to the source of Sci-Fi.... The printed page ........
Since hollywood allows the regurgitated rehashings of amazing films I have avoided the box office more times then not as of this past decade.
I KNOW there are good writers out there ... There has to be ! Hollywood is just too cheap to pay for original ideas and instead rely on recycling the great works of old. SHAME .......

These are dark times when creativity is not nurtured and encouraged and instead an already trodden story is butchered and rehashed to the dismay of the public.

On a high note, thank goodness creativity still finds an outlet in the form of amazing writers and directors who refuse to cave in to mediocrity.
These creative geniuses KNOW how to spin a yarn, and fortunately can still find the investor backing to do just that !

Onward we go seeking pearls in the mud.... and there is a great deal of mud.

Looking forward to Mortal Engines...... will view it by hook or by crook ! ! !

Keep in the fight people !

Cheers to the membership......

J
