Is there a list like mindisc.org or laserdisc archive that has pictures and a brief description of all the models of beta from all the manufactures for beta?

It seems the only way to discover players is by looking on eBay or YJ.

Do you know which is more hi-end the SL-HF600 or the SL-HFR70 (is it even worth it to get the extra processor?)

My knowledge ends here. I did entertain the idea of buying a Beta machine a few times but never really pulled the trigger. Good machines are really expensive and there is really no exclusive material on Beta. For me it would be one extra junk I paid a ton of money and sits in my rack without much use therefore I gave up on the idea long ago. I admire the late high end machines but I highly doubt I will ever own one. What made you interested in a beta machine?

I have both of those and thinking of getting rid of one but having trouble figuring out if the HFR70 with the add on processor is better than the HF600 which has it all in one complete package. It seems the HF600 is more hi-end. At the moment I don't have the add on processor which is terribly expensive so I am leaning towards getting rid of that though they both are Super Beta. I can't seem to find anything about video quality like which has a better picture.

I have both The Compleat Al on LaserDisc and Beta so I want to copy the opening for the Beta like I did for the LD.

Also was wondering what a high end machine with the best video quality is though I do like some of the vcrs they're more expensive than the 2 I got combined which I found locally when I was back in KY.

If we go by the original MSRP the HF600 was $1000 and the HFR70 was $550. Since with Sony "you get what you pay for" usually holds, the HF600 is probably the better machine.

Is there anything interesting to watch on Beta?

Yes but it could be found better on other formats but beta might be the cheapest :)

So far the only differences to other releases that I have and know is the opening to the Comnpleat AL which is similar to the LD version that I upload but its for Beta though I have yet to get the DVD and VHS versions.

I can't think of anything exclusive to Beta that's worth getting a Betamax VCR for.

But like xtempo says, some hard to find old VHS titles can be found more cheaply on Beta than VHS.

Lets hope these listings go away after these free listings are removed from ebay.

I have a beta deck but I've honestly thought about selling it since there's precious little I'd want to own on that format, most of which is either NTSC, which I can't play, or never comes up for sale, like a UK tape of The Shining (which would most certainly cost more than I'd be willing to pay).

I did see a pre-cert tape of The Evil Dead on ebay a while back which would've been cool to own, just for the historical value. Which is probably why it went for about £60.

Some people are going to think they have gold on their hands like those same people trying to sell those "Black Diamond" Disney VHS tapes.

Just because a few are going to as insane amounts for a title, doesn't mean that's the norm.

I mean, we've seen some outlandishly priced LDs too!
