Also I never feel like the image on LD is on par to VHS, anybody who says this doesn't have their TVs calibrated properly.
Even when going from a Bluray to LD I never feel like I'm choking the image down, LD is nice on its own and even compared to other stuff
when calibrated properly, even on an 80" screen.

Or they are about halfway into a 750ml bottle of whiskey.

So true.
The only image I've had issues with is one DVD that comes to mind that I just watched.
Amazons vs Supermen.
The DVD is mastered from the Japanese LD, you can see the image was shifted up for the subs but on the DVD
the image has been shifted down and the put a black bar across where the subtitles would have been.

Very blurry in a strange way, you can still watch and enjoy it.

But on another note to sidetrack and I should start another topic.
I know the history of rental etc in Japan but I feel its very odd that they would bother to release such a crazy film in Japan on LD
but then never again release such a film on DVD in Japan.
What was the reasoning behind this??
