Wow, I guess it took this many years to find the suckers who really wanted Street Sharks.

I remember back in the day I could sell a Joe or Thundercats or any Turtle rare figure for 100 bucks and common for 20 and nobody had SS as they were garbage that
nobody wanted.

I even remember going to the toy wholesalers who had very limited toys but had shittons of street sharks and they couldn't get rid of them.

I'm guessing it's the 90's Kitsch appeal. Kinda like the Rock'n Flowers by Tomy in the 80's. I remember seeing that old toy promo reel with Vin Diesel being posted like a whole decade ago but I get the impression that people are only seriously collecting those things now.

Don't worry, I have a feeling that one day you'll have a chogokin Street Shark and an 8K remaster of the complete Gummi Bears TV series on your shelf.

My brother liked TMNT as it was at its bloated peak. I only liked it pre-Archie. There’s something about a toy collector young enough to have gone apeshit for Turtles. Once they have they many times succumb to the charms of the endless wave of ripoffs. I don’t see any appeal to any of it. Zero. The stuff looks positively moronic.

My friend John though is almost two years older than me, grew up on Mego dolls and Six Million Dollar Man and stuff and he still collects that mutant neon 90s garbage.

Thundercats was not a rip-off of He Man. It’s a ripoff of Cats. It’s just Cats with more dialogue and hardware and they couldn’t get the rights to the songs so they used lasers.

Anyone remember micronaut's ?

Six million dollar man toys were popular in my home growing up.
My 2 brothers and I reenacted Steve Austin fights with Robot Oscar Goldman.

As long as I was building a plastic model of a dinosaur or ww2 vehicle I was happy as a clam.
Had nearly all of the Aurora line of "monster" models circa 1972........

Then a few years later, the phenomena called fantasy role-playing was born aka Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
Literally Pandora's Box for creativity..... Forgot what a TV was during those years....

Painting miniatures became a passion I still hold into my 50's.......

(Felt like posting this, apologies if not relevant to thread...)

Relevant to me.
Micronauts were interesting as that line from Japan was turned into half of what turned into the Transformers line.

I remember reading an article about the guy from America who created Micronauts, that was before the internet and you could get away with stuff like that.

I loved Micronauts. I didn’t have more than a couple as my buying power that young was very small.

I had a friend who was obsessed with TMNT and I think that combined with the fact that I was still head over heels for Transformers was why I never really quite went nuts for it the same way every other kid did - but even Transformers was dead in the water, even in Europe, around mid-90's. Sure, there was G2, but that was hardly the same thing. I don't think I ever saw Beast Wars on the shelves. I only ever got a single BMFM figure. The thing about these franchise-driven toylines was that they tended to be awfully expensive. Or at least that's how I perceived them. I blame my parents for being really cheap when it came to buying me toys. My mom in particular loved using my siblings as an excuse - despite the fact that they were so much older than me that they already had their own homes and jobs by that time. I think the time she gave me an old Transformer and a GI Joe taped to a piece of cardboard for christmas was the absolute low point.

Coincidentally, when I finally did get a TMNT toy as a kid, it was a redeco of a Microman toy.

somewhat Arguably, the ULTIMATE MACROSS/ROBOTECH VF-1 "Valkyrie/VERITECH" toy.

a MUST HAVE, if you can find one at a reasonable rate, or, more likely, can afford and/or are willing to pony down on some rather extortionist flipper rates;

Wow, highly original, I almost thought the first figure was from the original Twilight 2000 line. So you do a fair bit of conversion then? What is the last thing? A Cobra BAT combined with a horse??! I can't even guess what game or setting your playing with these things in.

Yeah, so the female with rifle is from an obscure early 1980's figure line. Not Twilight 2000 though same genre.
Primarily utilized for Morrow Project and Fringeworthy in my gaming circles 'back in the day'.....

The two headed mutant is from the Grenadier Gamma World Denizens box. He (they) are called Orlens.

The Centuar in the Flying Space suit is from an unknown figure line also from the 1980's.
I used to play Traveller and FTL 2448. Science fiction roleplaying at its best....

The last figure is a rather angry plane traveller leaving a portal.... Advanced Dungeons & Dragons genre....

Kinda fun cropping them small enough to fit into a file.

PM me an email address forper and I would be happy to share some other pictures with you.
Glad you liked the figs...

Cheers mate,

J

I was lucky enough to find some figures last year at the local fleamarket, sold them for some nice dough on ebay.
One I remember was a set of ships done in the late 70s early 80s to tie in with star wars.

The pieces I have that I want to keep but just sit in a box are the Groo figures, they are very cool but unpainted and I debate on selling them every now and then.

a couple of 1/35 figures, painted up by me.

one is a VERLENDEN resin Vietnam-era U.S. fighter pilot, intended to be a pilot for my AS-5E3 "LEYNOS" Assault Suit
from the little-known/underappreciated SEGA MEGA DRIVE (GENESIS) classic "ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS" ( "TARGET EARTH" U.S.)

the other is officer Kanuka Clancy, included with the 2001 BANDAI MG INGRAM AV-98 unit 2 from the Anime classic MOBILE POLICE PATLABOR series;
