Was looking at..."stuff"...and noticed what appears to be a rip of Star Wars A New Hope 4k HDR titled "alternative cut", probably from Disney+. Apparently it's the "maclunkey" version (which I haven't seen yet). So it prompted me to go check for physical releases/dates as I haven't looked for a while. I can see a Best Buy Exclusive DigiBook "Skywalker Saga" listed for release at the end of March.
A character in this episode wears uniquely distinctive armour from TESB/ROTJ. When the "monster" is killed there is something discovered which is related to Knights of the Old Republic video game. At the very end you can see a familiar face
The sequel trilogy turd is being erased there is no question. Executives at Disney can clearly see that this is the way and that all Star Wars fans want to forget Kennedy's passion project.
A really awesome season two and what a great way to end it. Looking forward to more.
Don't think there will be more for quite some time. They can't film S03 because of covid. Well, maybe they could if they did it all in a country that wasn't overrun by cases and deaths, eg New Zealand or even Australia. But idk if they would be allowed to in either of those examples anyway. Maybe possible with at least 2 weeks quarantine for all involved but idk if those governments would allow such a thing now.
The teaser in S02 finale end credits mentions a different character story series starting late next year.
None of these new sci-fi things are really live action. The vast majority of the end product is animation, they just have the actors do the trade negotiation sequences and then paste their face textures on some models.
Just wanted to dig up this old post to remind people that this show does use some old school methods instead of using CGI for anything and everything. Puppets, prosthetics and even stop-motion animation (scrap walkers). Even screens etc used by characters in the show look old school. Plenty of things just look right instead of feeling wrong.
Besides the fact the story is great, I think some of these old techniques are part of the reason why I like the show. It doesn't come across as modern rubbish being forced down my throat like the Disney sequel trilogy.
Since my Jedi faith was somehow restored thanks to the Mandalorian, a friend pointed out that "Star Wars Rebel" was a good catch up to explain some of the Mandalorian storyline choices. Same writer (Dave Filoni) who also directed Mando S01E01, S01E05 and S02E05.
It's only 4 seasons, don't get turned off by the childish first season (that starts a lot like Aladdin and puts Mickey heads in several places). Things get darker from season 2 (excellent finale episode) and I'm now half through season 3 and it's less a show for kids than for teenagers/grown ups!
You get to understand better the backstory of the clans/species/wars and what the Empire did that still echoes in the post-trilogy TV series.
Basically Episode 7, 8 and 9 are on an oily sliding ramp to get their a** kicked out of Star Wars canon (as if it was a parallel universe) and the path that fans are asking for (with their $$$) would take over.
Let's forget 7/8/9 just like we all collectively forgot that Indiana Jones 4 ever happened.
Glad to hear you like Rebels, I was watching that during it's release and it was a shame to see so many people poopoo it.
I assume you've seen it already, but the Clone Wars is even better, and does a great job at making the prequel era more fleshed out- it's also even darker than Rebels, especially in the later seasons.
The finale to the show that came out on D+ somewhat recently may be one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars media.
I'm hoping the new Bad Batch series does a good job of keeping up that energy.

And now Dave Filoni brought us Rebels Season 5.
But it's live, not animated, and it's called AHSOKA

Andor was my favorite so far. Ahsoka show got really interesting in the last 2 episodes.

Rogue One was a standout for sure. And Solo had its moments, though it's divisive. As for the main movies, they've been hit or miss for me too. But The Mandalorian is where it's at! I've been loving it. The teaser got me hyped, and I can't wait for that trailer drop on the 23rd.
