Quite impressed how these dolls look. Fun that it is a "two-in-one" as well. :)

Does it exist dolls that are based on game characters? The ones you've posted are based on anime characters, at least the posts I've seen. Would be fun to get one or two to go in the shelf as a display piece. Most of my import is games, so would be nice to have something related to that.

there are a few out there, first that come to mind are the 90's TAKARA dolls of "Nakoruru" and "Mai Shiranui"
from the then contemporary SNK arcade fighter series "SAMURAI SPIRITS/SHODOWN" and "FATAL FURY/THE KING OF FIGHTERS"

i have the Nakoruru. at like $12.85 shipped off the BAY, she is hands down the greatest bargain i've enjoyed to date.

the Mai Shiranui, however, seems rarer and far more expensive. perhaps i'll get lucky on her someday, but i don't count on it...

Cool, could probably look into one of those to complement my Neo Geo cartridges. Have several cartridges from both those series of fighter games. :)

Most people I've seen usually have posters, small figures or other memorabilia along with their collections or games and movies. I don't really have anything like that. Dolls like the ones you have seem to be a nice little touch to give some extra flavor in the shelf.

Interesting to see pictures of these, keep the threads/pictures coming in the future!

i forgot; there are at least two Mai Shiranui dolls out there, the 90's one i mentioned, and the far more recent two-odd ft. tall VOLKS "Dollfie Dream"

these VOLKS brand Dollfies are about the most lavish Japanese character dolls you can get, with lavish prices to match;

Oh man! Indeed, the price does match the quality. Looks really awesome, but I'm not going to spend that much money. I'll leave that for the serious enthusiasts instead. I'm sure it should be possible to find something cheaper, which suits a mortal man like me. :)

well, to paraphrase Dr. Frankenstein; SHE's ALIVE!!!!

all the little changes/enhancements i've been making to the MegaHouse GUNDAM SEED Lacus Clyne i recently acquired
have suddenly inadvertently coalesced before my eyes into a doll that strongly suggests my favorite VOCALOID character, Megurine Luka!
now i finally have the 1/6 doll of her i've been wishing for!!!

so, after a few months now of owning the MAX FACTORY Figma treatment of "Catch Me Catch You" Sakura Kinomoto,
i stumbled across the BANDAI S.H. Figuarts version of the same for a price i couldn't say no to,
after ignoring the Figuarts initial street release about 6~12 months ago,
in favor of fence-sitting for the later release of the Figma about 4~6 months later.

now, with both together in front of me, i'm glad to have eventually caved in, as each are a fine likeness indeed.
the Figma skews closer to the Manga depiction, and the Figuarts closer to that of the Anime series.
both have equal charm in my book, and are absolute treasures for the CCS/CLAMP fan;

Looks really good! Haven't seen or read any Cardcaptor Sakura, so I wouldn't have noticed the difference.

Are stuff like this big in Japan? Spoke with a native Japanese that I met locally. He asked if I'd collected any dolls since I have quite a bit of video games and animation. He asked as if it were kind of normal, but I didn't really know it existed until I saw your posts, tasuke. :P

yeah, this sort of stuff does tend to go hand in hand many other elements of Geek Pop Culture,
at least in the land that pretty much single-handedly developed the lifestyle in the first place...

I bought one randomly recently from Amazon it was 17 and something maybe .49. Stupid me thinking these were like the other figures I bought so I was rather surprised at the parts moved and can be taken off at any time so it took me awhile to get it in the position I wanted since everything seemed to come apart.

yes, MAX FACTORY/GOOD SMILE "Figma" and BANDAI "S.H. Figuarts" are both poseable action figure lines.

Figma by and large sticks by Anime Characters for subject matter, but branches out to some Film and Video Game licenses,
whereas Figuarts is a more recent line, heavy in POWER RANGERS/SENTAI oriented series
and series BANDAI has a hand in. all the same, Figuarts does offer entries from western Film and Comic Book properties
diverse as STAR WARS and BATMAN, to name a few...

what do you do with Kero? I couldn't see any way to display him so I left him in the package.

both include a Keroberos. the Figma version at least includes a stand for him.
the Figuarts has his tail balanced in such a way as to enable the figure to stand unsupported.

i don't bother displaying either, as i find myself content to display the two Sakura's thusly;

so, i've got this little Cupcake coming my way from a fellow Anime doll collector on another forum.

$60shipped, she'll be missing her gold-plated necklace and earrings,
but none of that is anything i can't whip up a superior quality replacement for,
if i end up finding myself compelled to.

in any case, she'll be a fine complement to my TAKARA brand AMG Belldandy...

she finally showed up!! (10/19/2015) first thing she got was a lip job, a set of undies and a Sailor Suit left over from the old Cardcaptor Sakura bendy body dolls

that TRENDMASTERS tried to market in the U.S. around 2000/2001 when the hack-job "CARDCAPTORS" treatment of CCS was airing on U.S. Sat. Morn T.V.

the uniform fits her just about perfectly, and she'll have to make do with it until i can whip up some better gloves and boots

than the goofy soft vinyl ones VOLKS supplied.

for now, she's quite content with her Big Sister♥

You're being entirely too kind merely calling it a "hack-job". :angel: :twisted:

yeah, it was a complete lobotomozation, IIRC. they tried to "re-purpose" it into boy's saturday morning action show,
with predictably ugly consequences. in any case;

Looks good! I don't quite get the thing with sailor clothes. Almost like it is kind of mandatory? But what ever, still looks great. Are you going to make the new boots and gloves your self, or buy different ones? I imagine it would be quite tricky to make on your own.

On a side note: I actually bought the anime OVA on VHS tapes today. Haven't seen the show, yet. Another funny coincidence that I dig into the unknown and suddenly stumble upon something related to it in your posts!

yeah, the OVA is a great way to get into the series. it's too bad that the VHS are currently the only common and inexpensive way
for westerners not fluent in Japanese to enjoy this OVA on a physical video format.
at least the AnimEigo VHS are high quality, especially when played back on a high-end deck.

yes, the Sailor Suit Japanese girl's school uniform is a common fetish among us Otaku.
it just looks cute and becoming on a female, at least to me.

it's just one of those simple pleasures in life that most people outside Asia just don't usually "Get"
just another simple touch of beauty in this cold dark world that will probably be another thing of the past in short order
if some of the more progressively minded elements in Japanese government today begin to gain serious traction...
