I actually happened to buy the Japanese tapes, hehe. Cost 500 yen, so shipping will without a doubt be more expensive. Wanted to experiment with my genlock, figured I'd try it out with VHS and overlay subtitles. Most VHS tapes I came across were really sun faded. Guess Japan must put all their stuff in the windows and have 340 sunny days throughout the year. The ones I found were not faded, which is nice.

Did a little search now, and it seems the sailor clothes were common school uniforms many years ago. Apparently more and more schools move over to other types of clothes now. A bit sad, I think it is nice when countries do things their own way. Gives it some character and flavor. But I guess Japan still manage to give it their own flavor even if it is more modern clothes they move over to.

finally getting round to working on repainting the vinyl boots and gloves to better match the clothing.

i've gotten way better with handling the paintbrush since my early novice plastic modelling days of the 90's,
but even so, it's still not exactly easy to get myself to apply anything like the sort of precision i find myself demanding these days;

Looks good! I think you did good with the paint. At least a lot more steady than I would be with the brush!

that's a good job. I'm not steady enough to paint well.

do you know many series Ah My Goddesses has? I think the only ones I never saw are adventures of the mini Goddesses.

thank you. the outfit she came with there is pretty and canonical, but rather ill-fitting,
as if it was originally tailored for a somewhat larger doll body.

one of these days, i intend to get her a 21cm. OBITSU BODY,
slightly larger, better proportioned, and with far more flexible and rugged joint design.

perhaps then her original costume will actually look like it fits properly.
in the meantime, her cute Sailor Suit school uniform does her just fine.




well, there's 308 chapters to the Manga, a five episode OVA from the early 90's,
a motion picture from the late 90's, six vols. (48eps.) of the aforementioned Mini Goddess
from around the same time, and two seasons worth of mid-2000's T.V. series.

the Mini Goddess series is the only AMG anime element i don't own.
i like to do something about that, but PIONEER only ever seemed to offer a single run
of the series in the U.S. market on VHS and DVD, and any of it seems rare and expensive to find...

since i've been on something of a roll with the hobbyists' paintbrush as of late,
i figured i'd add a little more detail to the doll herself.

perhaps a little more detail than some might consider decent, mind you,
so the photo is SPOILERed to avoid offending any conservative sensibilities;

've been working on a new set of undies for her over the last couple days, and about Finished now,
though i think i'm going to have to make a few fine adjustments here and there to improve the fit some;




i noticed how similar the Sailor Suit i have this doll in is to the one Skuld's android Sigel
apparently wears at some time in the Manga's continuity, and so i brought skuld's own uniform here the rest of the way to close parity;






also, Skuld-chan loves her some SEGA GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE;

Looks great! Adorable little Mega Drive you got there as well. Just need to find those fancy skating shoes, and she'll look like the picture.

yeah, i REALLY lucked out with that 1/6 console. found it on the BAY back around '08 or so for like $5/$10 shipped or thereabouts.

it was part of some Japanese GACHAPON retro VG console collectors' set,
and these days, on the rare occasion an individual element shows up for sale,
it seems to command triple digits.

i mean, jeez, i'd certainly hate to see what a complete set went for, sheesh...

all the little enhancements i've been making to the mid-2000's MegaHouse Lacus Clyne Anime Doll i acquired back in SEP. of 2015
have suddenly inadvertently coalesced before my eyes into a doll that strongly suggests my favorite VOCALOID character, Megurine Luka!
now i finally have something approximating the 1/6 Luka doll i've been long wishing existed;

Not familiar with these but they are beautiful pieces of art

and among of the few Asian character dolls left out there that actually don't command hundreds to thousands of dollars,
a boon of no insignificant importance for the less well-heeled of us enthusiasts out there...

she comes from a fellow Anime doll enthusiast on another forum i frequent. she has a lovely custom face-up
and a blouse/skirt/tights/boots outfit from the Anime that wasn't originally included with this doll.

she will be coming my way from Europe after Christmas, so stay tuned...

finally came (1/6/16) and my first thought was try the outfit on Belldandy, which looks... UNEXPECTEDLY AMAZING!!!

i recently acquired a used but well cared for mid-2000's AZONE Fate Stay/Night "Saber" 1/6 character doll from a fellow member of an Otaku collectors' forum (http://www.figure.fm/)

and when she arrived yesterday (1/6/16) the first thing that came to mind was trying her costume on my 1/6 TAKARA Belldandy.

well, guess what, looks like Saber just lost her garments for good!! i mean, to me at least, the outfit looks like it was made for Bell-chan.

she TOTALLY sells the look; the benevolent Queen of some medieval fantasy warrior kingdom...

she seems strange to have a sword though.

still, she manages to look strikingly noble and beautiful to me somehow, despite the strident OOC-ness of it all...
