I’m glad I was too tired to stay up late posting pics of my own stuff here. I’d just be deleting them and blocking you if I had fallen that hard for your little grooming trick.

It was all a trick and I fell for it. Just another thread to show your damned dolls in even though the rest of the class has already agreed to give you your own special place for them. For someone who pretends to be the meek and mild peacemaker you sure need a lot of special care and consideration.

I feel like this subway isn’t safe. There’s this flasher that always turns up, you can’t escape him. He’s in every single thread. “Nah, this time it’s different. I really have candy.” but then he opens the coat. “Gotcha!” he says and then you have to clean your glass yet again.

Signofzeta, though we have had our differences, and I cannot escape the fact that you really dont like me I have to relay a sincere message.
Your method of prowess and humor has cracked me up to no end.
Your deadpan and your metaphors kill me man !

I apologize if this statement in any way offends, or is out of line........
Just wished to convey appreciation for your ability to deliver your opinion.
I enjoy your knowledge base and your sense of humor........

I don’t have a problem with you. You’re for sure one of the most valuable members here and you seem to be watching even cooler stuff that I am half the time. We all say dumb s**t occasionally though and when that happens I’ll often call it out. That just means I thought what you said sucks though, not you. I’d expect the same from anyone.

Jesu Christo, Man!! Calm Down, Will You? i mean, i've like TWO of these GUNDAM Girl figure kits, VS. TEN M.S.
(nine MASTER GRADEs, (with two in storage) plus a lone PERFECT GRADE) as well as a pair of GUNDAM BASEs and a few unrelated Mecha models;

clearly, you have an intense disdain for Moe female Anime characters. i can respect that, however strongly i may disagree with it.

still in all, a passionate distaste for a given subject does not automatically bestow one license
to visit naked aggression upon anyone around them whom happens to be fond of it.

my GUNDAM shelves were overloaded. my least favorite two (UNICORN SINANJU and WING GUNDAM) had to get the cut
to make space for the two SENTINEL ZETAPLUS variants that are now my top favorite GUNPLA kits of all time...

If you expect me to believe for one second that this wasn’t a ploy to flash us, me in particular, with your doll collection then I consider my intelligence insulted.

As I said, 3/1000 or so kits (probably more) is an extremely small ratio. It’s not even %5 of your own collection yet...THATS WHAT WE GOT.

And yeah, maybe you’re the sane one and it’s all the 38 year old men NOT playing with statues of sexualized children that are weird. In that case it should still be easy to simply not post pictures of the stuff. It should be easy to avoid posting pictures of dolls but you CANNOT on ANY thread. Everywhere on this LASERDISC forum you have pictures of teeny weeny little frilly panties. You’ve been reprimanded by the owners of the forum who is a very nice person to tolerate the addiction you can’t control. He bent over backwards to accommodate your specialness by combing all pretty doll hair out of the other threads and weaving them into a new thread. I have a four year old who has exclusive access to my eternal patience. You don’t get any of it anymore. You aren’t in 3rd grade anymore. When you REPEATEDLY p**s people off despite over and over again them making perfectly clearly with no misconception you are doing so...then you’re just a jerk. I may be rude but I do at some point learn when I’ve gone too far. You never ever ever will. You’re a weird sort of passive aggressive bully who does whatever he wants because he’s so pathetic that everyone feels sorry to you.

If you don’t want me to block you, just say so. Same the other way. I never unblock people so I want you to make sure that it’s doll pics or me. I’m not going to see those f***ing things anymore on this forum and if that means I have to block you then that’s a result of YOUR behavior, not mine. The only other person I’ve blocked on this forum is forper and that’s because he’s a fan of war and crimes against humanity. A total psychopath with zero respect for life who also thread jacks every topic. If you’re as bad as that then I guess I’ll have to block you. Forper at least relents.

i am no "Bully" merely a guy that really likes 1980's Anime Mecha design,
and cute Anime girls from whatever era they may happen to hail from.

it would seem, as a "Decent" human being, i am to be thoroughly disgusted and ashamed of myself.

well since i passionately like what i happen to, -and do so fully without apology to anyone-
i suppose i am ultimately some kind of a Sociopathic freak.

Well, So Be It...

Geez signofzeta, triggered much

Hate to break the news, but the whole "cute girl" thing has been integral to the otaku scene since the beginning. Look at the subject matter of many old garage kits, doujins, etc. I'm ambivalent on the whole moe thing and generally think pandering to the demographic has hurt anime in recent years, but to think the only acceptable anime are "manime" shows like Votoms and Gundam and highbrow Oshii movies (which I love) is really missing a huge part of the scene. Tasuke's dolls are very tame next to actual sexualized models.

This is, after all, the off topic subforum for "Everything not remotely related to LDs?

Quote:

Tell us how you really feel

Tasuke is pretty representative of the interests of an actual Japanese otaku, dividing his interests between mecha and moe, and there are biases against the whole "cute aesthetic" in western culture which simply don't exist in Japan. Note that this is not a pro/con value judgment but an observation.

Some over enthusiasm with posting doll threads seems a valid point, for the sake of housekeeping purposes, but there is nothing wrong with the content.

Hi Harlock, what's your social take on simulating warfare and the wholesale slaughter of America's enemies?

You’ve been subjected to way too much positive thinking.

When someone says “Stop showing me these pictures I hate.” you have a choice. It’s a not a choice between loving and hating yourself it’s a choice you can make to decide if you want to *improve* yourself by torturing others less. If you or anyone else thinks they don’t need improvement then you are for sure a psychopath. Everyone can do better.

When someone says “Your breath stinks.” or “I hate the music you’re forcing us to all listen to” the correct response is not one of blame or condemnation or hating or loving yourself. Just brush your damned teeth or put on headphones. The problem isn’t “haters” the problem is being a gross inconsiderate a*****e. I don’t swear a lot in front of my grandma. It isn’t because I allowed her to trick me into self loathing and censorship it’s because she likes it more when I don’t swear. No, it isn’t her problem anymore than your reverse doll voyeurism is my problem. Our filthy dolls/mouths have their place and in and of themselves they are fine.

People who do things to other people that have made them uncomfortable and keep doing them because there is no legitimate means of stopping it...that pretty much is the definition of a bully. Doing it for your own fun just because you can for the benefit of nobody but yourself and the (however small) detrimate of others only because nobody is forcing you to stop...that’s exactly what you’re doing.

I wouldn't be quite as hostile as zeta about the subject, but this habit of shoehorning dolls into every conversation just seems kinda...desperate, I guess?

You mean torturing YOU less? Maybe it's not all about you, maybe others just don't have a huge problem with Tasuke's posts like you do?

nine times out of ten, while a given Anime brings me to the table, it's associated merchandise actually keeps me seated.

there are some GREAT GUNDAM series out there, however flawed, then there are the legions of stinkers as well, practically nothing but flaws.

there are some truly lousy GUNDAM series out there, as well as some hopeful disappointments, even,
that often have some rather solid, sometimes even stellar Mecha designs attached to them.

GUNPLA is a hobby unto itself that allows one to appreciate and enjoy good M.S. designs independently
of the source material it hails from, however good or bad it may be. a great sense of creative freedom comes right along with the package, even.

it's a virtually identical situation with Anime Character Dolls, at least for me.

take "To Heart 2" for example; an honestly TERRIBLE series (i've seen it) with some Fantastic characters (YMMV) attached.

i'm quite fortunate that such great characters proved popular enough to inspire a mountain of merchandising,
including some very fine character dolls that allow for a degree of customization and enhancement
that no static figure can begin to match in the hands of anyone less than a professional "Kitbasher"
and, even then, that's an irreversible one-way process.

so yes, there are some very valid and rewarding reasons to be an "Otaku" with a passion for Character Dolls,
and one does not indeed need to be a "Pedophile" to appreciate them...
