This is an extremely loaded statement. The outbreak wasn’t created intentionally by the Chinese people or the Chinese government. The spread can be blamed on unchecked capitalism if anything and that’s a world wide issue. The Man is so concerned about losing a months pay that he sends everyone to work anyway and continued the spread the virus. Climate change is a slow motion version of the same problem. When the best answer is “do nothing” the Capitalists don’t go for it. Their answer is always a new product.

And while it’s likely that Pooh Bear is lying about the numbers it’s also true that China has total authority over every citizens life. Italy is socialist but not totalitarian so it’s not surprising that it’s more out of control there. There’s way less “control” in general. In China you can order all the sick into an old building and when it collapses...fewer sick people! In Italy you can say “F that.”

Hand sanitizer is a f***ing scam, btw. Always has been. It’s just contrived way to charge 100x more than soap and do a worse job. Wash your hands with soap and water and don’t touch anything. If you can get your hands on a €1 bar of bathroom soap you can keep your hands clean for a month. Hand sanitizer is not something most people have a legit use for and it’s in NO way better for washing critters off your skin. Soap is far more effective.

Yeah good old fashioned soap is better than anything. I always buy up a couple of multi packs when they're on special every few months anyway so haven't needed to restock, I'm pretty anal about washing my hands particularly given my work conditions.

I don't need it due to what's going down atm, but I do use it for a variety of things and noticed the other day I'm starting to run low.

I’m a mechanic and a hobbyist and a certain kind of neat freak so I’m washing my hands like crazy anyway. People are always surprised that I build cars, real and scale, yet my hands aren’t all f-ed. Hand sanitizer isn’t going to get spent diesel oil off my hands, or enamels, or even Sharpie. I need some real clean, not hands that are sterilized but also still visibly filthy and still covered in dead protozoans.

Someone I know is a neonatal nurse and they have extreme hand washing regimes. Ones that begin and end and then you do the whole thing again a few more times. You need like 15 minutes to be clean enough to do open surgery on a premature infant who at that stage has zero resistance to anything. At no point is hand sanitizer used, just soap. And it isn’t an especially aggro soap, I pretty sure it’s just normal antibacterial liquid soap.

Yes it wasn't created intentionally but the Chinese government could have banned the sale of weird animals for human consumption a long time ago, especially following the last SARS epidemic. This s**t would have never happened if people hadn't eaten bat soup in certain parts of China. Now I can say from my own experience that only a very small minority actually eats stuff like cat, dog or some other weird s**t so why not just ban it ? Most people just eat pork or chicken the same way we do. The Chinese government is entirely to blame for what has happened.

Considering there is a military research lab in Wuhan and this virus seems man-made (perfect balance of high transmissibility when not showing any symptoms, and high enough fatality rate to create panic) I would say more likely than not this is a leaked bio weapon. I don't know if it was intentionally leaked or not but leaking it in your own country then knowing Chinese people travel worldwide everyday, also knowing that a totalitarian government can stop something like this faster than a free Western one, it might be a good cover for an attack on the West. The Chicoms have done worse than this in their history to maintain power up to now.

But it was intentionally covered up by the Chinese government, if they had told other countries earlier we wouldn't be in this situation.

It could very well be a bioweapon and the result of eating some odd critter. There have been incidents of lab animals being sold out the back door of facilities for food purposes in China Anyway you look at it, another fine man made disaster courtesy of the folks that brought you the Great Leap Forward.

If you Google “greatest threat to human existence” you’ll find that the scientific community is more or less united that the top three are climate change, thermonuclear war, and global pandemic. People have been warning us about this for at least a decade. We didn’t care. Nothing was done to prepare. We decided it was more important to fight over transgender bathrooms and build electric cars for people to kill themselves in instead of having a functioning health care system and a government that has an interest in public health.

Finally work is closing earlier but I don't know how that affects me since i'm morning and doing less hours. I hope everything will be fine. I worried for someone from my old job that I always want the best for.

Yesterday at wallyworld they had a sign, if you are looking for a job we will hire you and you start to work today.

Its amazing that all these people are going to be worked out and their immune systems will be weak when working around the public.

Its very much local. While I'm not much of a "states' rights" sort of guy in this case I think thats a good thing. The USA is a huge place with a lot of variety and different places are going to have different needs.

CDC has guidelines but there isn't any control and FEMA always seemed be a joke at times. So far they haven't done anything.

Somehow Hotels are still open here, pretty much everything else is closed now (besides essential services).

They has a couple people test positive at the hospital half a mile from here, so it's a matter of time before I'm stuck at home.

Can't wait to get groceries this morning, I haven't been in a week or so, and I've been told they're now counting heads and only allowing 50 people in at a time.
