The Equilibrium would be similar to Malthusianism that has been around since 1798. We're dealing here with a Black Swan. Not a Black Swan virus --- we already knew a global pandemic was possible for a long time -- but a Black Swan events for our economies/healthcare systems/financial systems. Confinement is like holding breath. You can do it for a little while, but you can't do it forever. But it's better to hold your breath a minute and go though a cloud of poison almost unaffected, than pretend you're not breathing and inhale enough poison to slowly perish. Julien

As expected, Vermont is shut down except for essential businesses which apparently includes me.
The hotel I work at is only allowing essential workers to stay here, the likes of doctors, truckers, and COVID-19 response workers. Anyone who wants to stay here needs to have proper paperwork proving they are essential employees. We've laid off all but the front desk staff, and managers. We are no longer refreshing rooms, only cleaning for checkouts; we are also done serving breakfast and 24/7 coffee so my job now takes me 5 minutes to file my paperwork, and the rest of my night is spent watching netflix.
They have also set up a large overflow unit (beds and supplies) across the street at a sports complex for COVID-19 patients, set up by the national guard.
It feels weird seeing the streets this empty, but I'm hoping these measures are enough to slow the spread at least a little bit in this region.
Stay safe everyone, and again if anyone needs any supplies that can be sent via Amazon or the likes, please PM me so I can help out.

glad you kept your job. I'm keeping mine for now too. I'm usually M-F but covering someone's Saturday shift and someone elses evening shift now too coz they're both scared. At this rate I'll have more work than ever rather than getting made redundant. Raking in the cash. For now..unless a full lockdown comes.. and we're not allowed to work..My work wouldn't be deemed essential I believe. Although we still have work to do surprisingly. My city is a ghost town as well. 2 people on my bus this morning. 10 on the whole train home. My third order of surgical masks actually got through to me tonight. Some ppl say they're ineffective or less effective than a properly fitted N95 but if frontline healthcare workers choose surgicals I want em too: Singapore (curve on the way down): I tend to pay attention more than other people I really noticed in this crisis. I've been using my previous supply of surgicals since Feb then crappy muji masks that are too small for me while waiting for resupply of surgicals.

Tokyo just joined the club. This is the meat shelf of my supermarket. The toilet paper permanently vanished 4 weeks ago. Attachment:

Glad I watched the numbers and anticipated the whole things 2 weeks ago! Julien

My work is still open that's retail, but I haven't been in there for nearly a whole week now Some retail outlets have closed on their own without being told to do so by federal or state authorities. PM is still obsessed about people working until too many people get sick. Edit: About my workplace, they cut their open hours during weekdays. Instead of 9am-5.30pm they're doing 11am-5.30pm now, that got changed a couple of days ago. Again, nothing to do with government. Saturdays are still the same 9am-5.00pm though afaik.

Only looks like normal I know its still not normal yet. The store might be imposing limits. Seeing that here.

Only looks like normal I know its still not normal yet. The store might be imposing limits. Seeing that here. Yes they were and are but you have these farm families of 6-10 and I can totally see them split up and each buy a loaf of bread etc. Still only 5% TP on the shelf. Trying to go out as little as possible, no need so I stay home, even with so few cases in DE its not worth the risk. Scary that liquor stores are open so hospitals don't get overwhelmed with DTs but gun stores are closed as none essential. Stay safe James, my wife told me about New Rochelle that they have lessened the curve already, so it will happen but it takes the entire world the extra time. Also heard on NPR that they have a test that will give results in about 15 minutes not days or weeks. Don't know or remember if they said it was ready yet but they have it, all about ramping up stuff for the almost 8 billion of the planet. Lets hope India can keep this at bay due to their large population.

I wonder if we will ever get any kind of accurate estimate for the numbers that lost & perhaps are still to lose their lives in China. Best of luck to all, stay as safe as you can folks.

Sadly I very much doubt it since they control the media there. All we can do is guess based on the small amount of info that does come out.

Only looks like normal I know its still not normal yet. I assume everyone’s shelves are full and their credit cards are maxed. I mean, the only way to use all the TP people have been buying lately would be to force feed themselves all the food people have also been buying lately and that would just kill a person.

We were in a Big Lots last week about and the people in front of us opened a CC and started to buy 300 of food. While its not very expensive its not cheap at big lots and I'm sure they had maxed out their other cards if they had any. Wonder where their 1300+ will go when they get it, TP..........

gypsy wrote: http://www.asianews.it/news-en/Wuhan,-endless-queues-for-ashes-of-coronavirus-dead-cast-doubts-on-numbers-49673.html China has a significant daily mortality rate anyway. I think their annual death rate from a few years ago was over 10 million? I'm not saying they aren't lying about how many people have died from covid-19, only that the "normal" death rate needs to be taken into consideration, because normally it's numbers we aren't accustomed to since we live in countries that are smaller (unless there are Indians here, maybe that would be similar numbers I don't know). As for China controlling media, a lot of countries attempt to manipulate or influence their domestic media anyway, the Chinese probably just do a better job Hell, media here have been a little scared recently about reporting things that might upset the government or military...we aren't communist and don't have dictatorship. Trump is always denigrating US media in all sorts of ways. The perceived threat in some democratic countries is litigation, more money you have the easier it is to win court cases.
