Yes, thanks for posting this. If someone asked me to guess what year the first in-car player became available I'd never have guessed as early as 1984. I wonder what year the first CD units were fitted as standard and by which car manufacturer?

According to wikipedia it was the 1987 Lincoln Town Car, but if you look up that vehicle it seems a CD player is mentioned as an option in 1985 (part of a 12-speaker JBL premium stereo system, but I can't see any mention of the head unit brand).
I have read somewhere else that Mercedes Benz offered factory fitted CD player (Becker Mexico Compact Disc) around 1985.

Ah, that's interesting to learn, many thanks for posting deadlegion
I have an 8 inch laserdisc manufactured for internal use by Pioneer employees and it features a commercial for one of the later models of the Carrozzeria car CD player. Quite cool. Nice post.

And yet another interesting learn, hope that one isn't a rotter confederate?

No, it is in perfect condition and plays without any rot. It is a late Pioneer Japan pressing so it shouldn't be a problem:

I'm using the word interesting a lot just lately but this LD definitely appears so, many thanks for that!
Yes, it is a nice disc. I bought it for 2 Euro from some guy in Germany who got it from somebody else.
The picture quality is really nice on this disc and it also has both Japanese and English audio so it is not entirely useless to anybody not speaking Japanese. There is a translation of everything that is being said in Japanese on the other audio track.

Obviously it's of limited appeal but just 2 euros?....wow!
