Dunlop JH-1 Jimi Hendrix Wah Pedal - used but working

Worked on Saturday so didn't have time to have a good look at this and test...

Did a tear down and generally cleaning/maintenance.
One of the rubber feet was missing, replaced with new full set.
PCB indicates this is an early version (pre-1992). Inductor is ok but maybe the potentiometer needs to be replaced (it's still working though). Switch and everything else is fine.
Some scratches, scrapes and dings to be expected on something like this that's 30 years old and not sourced from Japan :P

This pedal has the old common issue of not having true bypass. It can be modded though.
Might be cool to source a 200k or even 470k pot to test out, but probably easier just to get a Dunlop Hot Potz I
I'm going to gift it to someone I know anyway so I'll let him decide.

You need to visit DE, its pretty much the same.
We get jaded and don't see these places or think we all are clean and live nice but in fact we are the special ones
who decide to take showers daily etc.

For me when I drive one direction or the other to get to lowes, both take 30 minutes, I drive past at least 3 trailer parks and
that's only on the main road.......

As I said earlier the primary reason I don’t like the show is it’s like hanging out with the people I worked very hard to not hang out with. I knew 20 Beavi when was a kid. This show came out right around the time I got out of high school, why would I elect to continue the experience?

I also wouldn’t elect to visit where you live let alone dwell there permanently. I don’t like BFE, it’s bad for me and most of the people who live there, from my experience. I live in a college town now but I was not born here. I know aaaalll kinds of trash people, actually know them, not cartoonish abstractions. Their stories are often very dark, so when I see these two twits in front of the TV all day I can only think about all the real neglect and mental illness and poverty that I’m sure inspired it.

This arrived very quickly from Sweden today.

After watching my Luminous Flight Laserdisc the other day, I went out and hunted down the soundtrack.

Luminous Flight was released in 1984 on Laserdisc. The soundtrack was released as an album by Osamu Kitajima entitled The Source. The disc was released in 1986 (which this copy is dated).

The sleeve notes are interesting. The beautiful harp music was played by Dorothy Ashby. The sleeve notes mention that she passed suddenly and that she will always be remembered. It makes me wonder if she passed before seeing the final album? It's comforting to know she would have very likely seen Luminous Flight, or heard the album as the LD was released 2 years prior in Japan only.

There is some very interesting information about Dorothy Ashby here. She was quite the accomplished harp player. Lauded as one of the greatest. Rightly so, her harp literally soars across the sound stage on the Luminous Flight disc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Ashby

If you wish to have a look at my thoughts on the LD you can find that here if so choose to.

Luminous Flight (1984) [78LM 18]

It's a lovely album and compliments the Laserdisc so well. Check it out if you can, it's not on streaming services as far as I know.

Just a question, why?????
I still have a tape deck and while I think they are super sweet I never use it, took it from my parents as they never used it.
Now its sitting in a box enjoying no dust.
I have I think 4 cassette tapes but would never bother with it as I have my LP and CDs for music. not too many music LDs, i just have them to watch not for the
music itself on LD.

Not sure. There has been a rebound in the cassette world though. I repair and sell them to hipsters to fund my LD habit. Anything 3 head and/or Dolby S sells for a good amount.

Congrats on that deck Tasuke.

My only use for cassette capability for the last 20+ years has been copying other people’s personal recordings for them. I used to shred through 2-4 AAs per day back in the 80s but CD and MD completely covered everything that cassette did so I just stopped using it and now with flash...forget going back to any of those except maybe CD. I haven’t had a use for it myself since I was last recording music (DJ mixes) directly to it. A perfectly fine format for its time that is now just a lower quality PITA way to record or play back something.

If I found a working TASCAM in a e waste bin you can bet I’d snag it though. My last quality deck froze up from lack of use around 2004 I think and there is always a nice old lady with a tape they want to hear again...

I know the hipster deal, I may have to cash in on my deck, unless its still not worth anything, last time I checked over 15 years ago it was tops 30 or 40.
Its a nice one but may not be what others are looking for?

The first chance I got to get rid of anything tape based I jumped on it. Tapes are the same for me as a CRT, something I permanently left in the past.

Well...I sort of miss reel to reel. That’s one that used to be pretty cheap once you had the deck and you could make rreeeaallly long mixes. It also sounds pretty good but then I guess so does cassette if you aren’t buying retail. All that stuff is so $$$ now it makes Nakamichi Dragons look like iPod shuffles and obviously a 1TB SD card will hold more higher quality sound than any tape.

because Compact Cassette was my first Audio format, and my first component Hi-Fi system, -handed down to me from my parents-
included a PIONEER Dual-Well cassette deck that saw heavy use in the early-2000's, making mixtapes for both me and my truck driver father.

that deck, besides being my first that served me very well, was the impetus that turned me down the road towards becoming a PIONEER fanboy,
and, when i gained internet access and began learning of the great many Hi-Fi gems that one Japanese CE firm alone had produced back in their heyday,
- to say nothing of the cream that the score of fellow firms produced during the golden age alone-
i knew i had to have one of PIONEER's finest Cassette decks, -as well as as many of their other finer components as i could get the chance to own-
to build myself a PIONEER-based Dream Hi-Fi system, or, as close to that ideal as i could afford to come.

i knew i liked mid/late-80's-era Japanese CE the best, and that was just about at the peak of high-performance cassette deck development anyway,
so, since PIONEER's ELITE-series CT-91 deck was, has been, and likely ever shall be out of my reach,
i settled for it's nearly-identical STANDARD-LINE brother, the 1988 CT-S800.

i collected a great many top-flight Cassette blanks, and made a collection of reference recordings, using my first CT-S800,
before it went bonkers on me.

with luck, i'll fix the minor issue this new one has, and i'll be right back in business...

That's just a blu-ray in a case that looks like a VHS, isn't it?

Anyway, I just got one of these things:
