That’s a very very generic sounding early 80s American TV piece. It sounds like sports coverage or the intro to Circus of the Stars or something. Specifically the wah wah guitar chords punched by the horn section. I think I saw Evel Knievel jump something while that was playing...or maybe David Copperfield was making something disappear...can’t say for sure. Movie of the week? “Last chance to get popcorn” animation at the drive in?

That's so painfully early 80s.

I think I actually prefer the later, simpler computer animated one they used from around mid-80s onwards.

Reminded me also of Movie of the Week or Sunday Night Movie etc. Probably early 80s but you can smell the late 70s all over it.

I can hear it now, like one of those station announcer breaks they have:

"...and coming up after the big game tonight at 7, your evening movie. Meryl Streep stars in the network premier Kramer vs Kramer, brought to you by Tylenol, followed by your news and weather in City Tonight at 11.

CHiPs and Murder She Wrote were on years apart from each other, but otherwise that’s pretty accurate.

Yeah, in the 80s nothing was less cool than the 70s. This is that sort of expertly performed but massively out of touch stuff you’d expect from about 1982. Like, J pop...permanently stuck in the past.

Sort of. CHiPS finished in 1983 and Murder, She Wrote started in 1984 so we could be in CHiPS re-run territory here. I think both shows were on NBC anyway so it's beside the point.
