Post subject:  Mono R channel to stereo ?  Topic is solved

Hi everyone !
My player (LD-V4300D) is outputing only sound to R channel when it plays mono discs.
Is there a way to clone the R channel to get the mono sound on R and L channels ?
With my lumagen (2144) for exemple ? Or an other device ?

I assume there's a reason you can't just leave the discs playing both left and right channels?

Can you force stereo on your AV receiver so that the mono channel plays out of both L and R sides?

No, I have no special reason... Just that my player is using only R channel for mono discs. I just don't know why... And my amp has no such function...

That's a shame. On my Yamaha soundbar I have a 'Stereo' button which will output mono to both L&R. I was hoping you may be able to do something similar with your setup.

Don't mono discs usually still come with left and right channels, ie. dual mono?

Yes, nearly all of them.

I’m wondering what happens if R is selected on the player, which should put the same channel through both jacks.

Are we using the RCA outs here?

Yes, RCA.
Maybe one cable is faulty. I will try again next day off ;)
Thanks !

So a stereo disc does play sound on both the left and right audio outputs?

Just started to read this topic.
I would always do the easier thing first.

I always say clean the contacts on the jacks of the players, these older players do get oxidation and need cleaning sometimes, even the cable if its too old.
1 minute of work can possibly fix the entire situation.

Makes me wonder if something on the inside has disconnected or its stuck with a remote on the R channel?

Should play fine with mono on both sides but this is an odd issue.

That's what I was getting at. If a stereo disc has no left sound as well, then the issue is probably a loose connection for the left audio out jack. Most likely I would assume a cold solder joint.

It’s just very odd that a mono disc is only encoded on one channel as literally all mono discs I own would always have the mono soundtrack spread over both channels.

OK ! After changing the left audio cable, everything is good !
Digital was passign through DAC via EFM cable, that's why digital was not affecting !
Thanks for all !
