My main player, a Pioneer CLD-59 Elite player generally does everything I need it to do. Except apparently when it comes to playing disc 1, side 2 of my new Star Wars box set. It gets to the 34th chapter and just goes nuts in terms of tracking and whatnot. I posted a video of the incident here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GK5WyBSw2s&feature=youtu.be. I proceeded to try this out on my backup player, a Pioneer CLD-V2800 and it played through without issue. The same exact thing happened when I played side 2 on the A side of my Laserdisc player, but as soon as I flipped the disc into its correct orientation and played side 2 with the auto flip, it had the same issue, but had gotten worse. I'm not even sure if this is an issue or not, but its happened on a few other side 2s of other discs, like Batman Returns, 12 Monkeys, and Pulp Fiction. Anyone got any thoughts?

If this is happening with all CAV recorded LDs like the definitive collection then the Focus servo needs adjustment. If it happens with CLV LDs also then the tracking servo also needs adjusting. Some pickups cannot be corrected completely, never know until you try.

Lovely. I have no idea where to even start if I need to adjust parts like these. It's happened with more CLV discs than CAV. I can only assume that I couldn't take care of this on my own?

Maybe sometime over the summer, shipping out my baby to Virginia sounds awfully dangerous. You'd have to advise me on how to get that thing out there

i had this issue with 1 disc, it was a CLV and did it on both sides at the end of each side.
side one did it around 55 minutes side two around 35 minutes, the film was shorter on the second side.

i own over 350 discs, some box sets and having more, have had over the years about another 300-400 discs
all played throught the same player and never had this issue before, couldn't it just be the 1 disc was bad?

It might be just the one disc, where as I've had 5 or 6 discs do this consistently since I got the player

well, i was told it could be a warped disc.
IF the disc is warped the servo only works on the middle part of the disc, when the lens get's to
the inner edge and outer edge the balance? servo stops working, or something like that.
that's what i was told by duncan.
so check if your disc is warped, i tossed mine since it was only 3 bucks and a cheap movie to beging with.

so it could be very slight and doing it at the end of the disc, try laying the disc on a table to see.

If Virginia is a long distance to ship the 59, don't know where you are in the US, then Duncan is in Washington state and I do recommend him if he is closer.

You're much closer, I'm up in Rochester,NY. I just always get nervous about my Laserdisc player not being with me, I'd all for getting it serviced. How much to you generally charge for your services?

You can send me an Email to kbahr@comcast.net, I normally charge $50/hr with free estimate plus return shipping.

sounds resonable, then your player will be tip top shape.
pack it well, mark the box DO NOT DROP and all that stuff.
it should be fine, i sent mine priority insured when i needed it fixed so you could do that or fedex insured.
if you have an account fedex will be cheaper, if you don't do the post office.
just pack it in a larger box and mark it up if you do it.
also i'm sure krbhar will agree send the disc along or a disc that acts up.
