As my topic say, I have been thinking of buying a little more expensive cables for my system. But I am wondering how expensive cables I need to buy before there is any different picture quality. Unlike digital signals there should be quality loss with cheaper stuff I guess.

At the moment I have 5$ cables, if there is a big quality riase I could prob. spend up to 100 bucks on the cables.

Do you guys have any tips on cables you are using that you tell were much better then cheap ones the second you plugged it in ?

At the moment my setup is:
RG7 LD - Harman Kardon (output hdmi with upscale) - Optoma hd20 projector

Or would just a good brand cable for 20-30 usd give me the biggest band for my buck ?

Go to Radio Shack and buy some cheap coax RG-59 cable and some female coax to male RCA adaptors that screw on. It's cheap and you literally can't do any better. There is NO reason to spend much money on any cable.

as we dont have radioshack or anything like it here in sweden I cant try that. But it sounds like any decent brand cable would be as good, as long as the contacts are of good quality...

Go to ebay and get some Acoustic Research Master Series S Video Cables for Very cheap. They are silver coated copper conductors with heavy sheilding ,These used to sell for $60-$80 and you can know get the 6ft for $15 or less shipped, they have been discontinued thats why they are so cheap, model #s are Acoustic Research MS-220 for 3ft, Acoustic Research MS-221 for 6ft, Acoustic Research MS-222 for 12ft. accessories4less.com has the 3ft and 12ft for like $5 plus shipping

Be aware of very high number of fake brandname cables on ebay and amazon.

From very cheap to reasonable priced cables you will see the biggest improvement. Higher end cables will improve further but the change will be smaller than cheap to mid level. On audio it all depends on how revealing your system is most budget system will not benefit much. Most systems found in bestbuy magnolia etc will benefit from good cables. To spend one or two kilobucks on cables your speakers have got to be $10k+

I agree with the above statements. I think you will get the most bang from your buck going from very cheap to moderate priced. I used to use monoprice premium RCA cables, but noticed a substantial difference with a cable upgrade. I actually made them myself. Here is the thread discussing my DIY cable: http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=605

I used to be a non-believer. How could some simple interconnect cables possibly make a difference in sound.... I was amazed by how much the sound will change with different cables. I would recommend that people with descent speakers and setup spend some funds for good cables. If your putting thousands of dollars into your home theater, don't skimp on some $2 cables from the dollar store!

I absolutely hate Monoprice's "premium" cables. The ends are so hard core and so random in tolerance that half the time you have to almost bang them on with a hammer and the next set won't even grip enough to not fall off.

The component ones with L and R on them are the worst. The cable is so thick and stiff and inflexible that when you put one connector on the force from it will pull the other connects off. Every time you move your display or AVR it will randomly pull something out. Not to mention the cable, being 5 connects, is over 2" wide so more than a couple of these and they start taking up serious space. It sucks.

Their cheap ones are far preferable, but really the low end Monster stuff is the most consistent reliable and durable.

When it comes to speaker cable, that's where it counts most to spend big money on cables.

A lot of people like Bluejeanscable. They are nice cables and inexpensive (in the audiophile market) I used their Belden LC-1 cable when I was making my RCA interconnects.
