I recently purchased a defective Sharp MV-K8000 that I was able to repair successfully. The device is a NTSC karaoke player with auto reverse. I could not find a user manual or a service manual anywhere. The player has on the front a row of 4 buttons labeled 'PARTY GAME' 1 - 4. I have not yet figured out which laserdisc(s) might belong to these buttons. I have found a LD titled 'Party Games - For Adults Only' (37-608). But this LD has nothing to do with the function of the 4 keys. Does anyone know anything about the PARTY-GAME buttons of this player? If anyone should find a manual for this player - no matter in which language - please inform me.

This ad does mention 4 built-in game functions. Attachment:

What happens when you push these buttons? The Sharp MV-K7000X has 2. Julien

Julien Hi Julien, many thanks for the photo. - This is certainly the document that would contain the solution Maybe I'll find it somewhere to download someday and can then translate it with an effort from Japanese using the photo function of a translator. I also guessed that these were built-in functions, just as there are applause- or rating-functions on other karaoke LD-players. But I never succeeded in getting illuminated any of those the keys while playing one of my NTSC-karaoke laserdiscs. Just nothing happens when you push those keys.

It's Chinese, not Japanese Market seems to be Singapore. Google Translate phone app in camera mode will translate most of it. oppelix wrote: Just nothing happens when you push those keys. How about where there is NO disc inside? Julien

How about where there is NO disc inside? Julien I already tried all possibilities and suggestions about the keys, with and without a karaoke LD. Thanks to the Google graphics translator, it turned out that your photo is a brochure of the 3 Sharp karaoke players. Translation: I want someone to sing A happy party Shengbaowang(?) KaraokeSo many functions Naturally win all heartsAnd in the description of the MV-K8000X is written: 4 built-in game functionsI hope to find out one day how to activate these functions . I don't think there is a technical problem with the player. All other functions work perfectly. This is especially true for the keys to the left and right of the PARTY GAME keys. The repair concerned the power supply and a broken front board behind the numeric keys. Maybe I should disassemble the front again and check the PCB in the area of the PARTY GAME keys again very carefully and check the 5 micro switches for function. I will keep you informed .

Thanks for your very helpful post. Now I know, why you are number one in postings. In German: Jemand der überall seinen Senf dazu geben muss. ______________________________________________________________________________ Thx for the DM, Danke So you obviously don't have any LDs and just want to try and figure out your buttons. I guarantee you, I personally have owned in my LD life over 2000 LDs and none of them would be bothered with these buttons. So you will be waiting a long time to find out the true function of those buttons. Good luck.

Yeah, I got one of those PMs too. This guy doesn’t want anyone posting anything except solutions, no casual discussions! Exact answers or GTFO! He even complained about the video linked in my sig…as if it were aimed directory at him and not just…in my sig, in all my posts.

This way the counter of your posts has increased again. Hi guys, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend or compromise anyone. I opened this thread, hoping to get some helpful tips - or perhaps find a user manual of this player. And I'm sorry that I'm not interested in laserdisc-smalltalk. To the presumption that I don't own any LDs, I send a photo with a view into my LD room. Together with my son I have a collection of about 4000 laserdiscs. You can see the catalogued part here: https://www.lddb.com/collection.php?action=list&user=tackleman&sort=title&max=250And you are also welcome to have a look at my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@oppelixBy the way: The number of LD players I have repaired in the past 13 years amounts to about 160. From the Pioneer LD-V200 to the DVL-909, everything was there. My LD player collection currently consists of about 40 working machines. So if YOU ever need help repairing an LD player, feel free to contact me.

Gotta stay on top somehow Nice job on fixing so many players, with no parts its no an easy thing to achive. Nice pic and I'll check out your video later. Just an FYI, watched your laser cleaning video, alcohol will remove a coating on 1 or 2 special lasers for the LD players, while this may have worked for you, you must be careful there is a certain player that will be damaged with the removal of a special coating on the laser. I'm sorry I can't remember which players those are, maybe the S9 and X0 X9?
