Wouldn't it be great if we could compile a list of all the Repair Specialists by Continent, Country or Region?

I wouldn't know anyone in my Region.

Last time I had a player repaired, Pioneer Switzerland still existed and even after a botched repair atempt by the engineer (he killed the spare Laser Assembly) it needed to be send to Japan to be repaired.
And they told me never to bring in a player again.

That's not possible anymore.

and who want's to send their player all over the world, we all know how well
the packages are treated nowadays.

I know like maybe 3 LD guys on the entire planet if I include myself…and I don’t. They’re all in the US. I don’t think this is a bad idea for a list, but it won’t be very long…

It's been tried several times and the list gets shorter each time...

Anyone in the USA Still Repair/Refurb players?
Hello, need LD repair
Pioneer laserdisc repair locations
New (not really) Laserdisc Repair Service?

The 2 best experts with the best knowledge are here on the forum (krbahr and grasshopper).

But we keep compiling all tips and tricks in Technical questions, Repair, Troubleshooting, Advices and on each device details page.

Pioneer Japan closed down their last repair center end of 2020, the spare parts were either scrapped or given to "friends and colleagues" as I've seen some lots of refurbished optical blocks surface on YAJ from time to time.

I am located in Michigan and have serviced Pioneer, Sony and a few Panasonic players. I have a variety of calibration discs including the elusive Sony 8" disc and test jig.

5 X0's calibrated and too many Sony's to count.

I don't keep parts around so if you have a dead player it might be a good idea to source a parts unit before contacting me.

I hate the idea of shipping because nobody in the US could care less about your player than the shipping companies.

Turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks since I do have a day job, kids, and my wife has SMA requiring plenty of assistance.

I need to get in touch with you soon about a player or two. If I’m lucky enough to live within driving distance of two LD repairmen I should really having something on both of their benches.

What would you rather fix first? A 604, a 503, or an LD-W1? The W1 is actually the closest to perfect, just needs some mechanical gear synchronization of some sort. It plays sides 1 and 3 but doesn’t clamp hard enough when it’s upside down so can’t play 2 and 4.

I have a LD-W1 parts machine available with a good clamping mechanism. Feel free to reach out anytime.
