Hi all, I have just worked on a dvl-700. Recapped the power supply and replaced a bad cap on the front button board.

Everything appears to be working with the exception of the spindle motor. It’s frozen solid.

I put a few drops of turbine oil in the bearing and am just waiting to try and move it again.

Has anyone actually gotten one of these motors free this way or should I be looking for a 1057 motor?

Thank for any replies!

- Jeff

Just my $.02, but DVL motors are relatively plentiful. I'd recommend replacement rather than repair.

IIRC you can use the core motor from any late CLD player, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

I've used a DVL motor in a late model CLD player, but never the other way round.

Hi Horst,
I can’t seem to find a part number of the assembly on my service manual. Will this one fit?

The only mounting part is the motor itself. It is the same for the DVL-700 and DVL-909, so the assembly above is a full drop in replacement.

Hi Jeff,
please download the Service Manual of the DVL-909 (RRV1888) and have a look at page 12 - 13.
There you will find the Spindle Motor (52) with part mumber VXM1057 and the complete Spindle Motor Assy (56) with part number VXX2579.
Then you can compare the parts with those of the DVL-700 - and insure yourself that they are the same ones.

If you want to buy my offered part, please write me a PM.
We can then discuss details in person, such as asking price, shipping costs, payment.
If we reach an agreement, we will exchange email addresses and shipping address.

Greetings from Gerrmany

The DVL-700 spindle motor has the clamp pad like the CLD-D704 that ages and slips, the DVL-909 clamp pad is the better choice. Use a 909 spindle motor.
