Does anyone here do repairs or know someone that does repairs around the STL area? I contacted Alpha Tech Electronics, but unfortunately they lost their video tech and I'm not sure where else to even ask.

My DVL-919 has some pretty noticeable crosstalk on CLV, and lately it's started having issues clamping discs. I often have to eject and then re-insert to get it to clamp.

For the clamp issue you probably just need a load belt. You can order a generic SCQ3.8, clean the pulley gear on the load motor when replacing the belt. If the 919 used to play with no crosstalk in the past and it now has it the laser could be aging. If it was always this way it needs calibration.

Sorry, I'm all the way in Virginia so you would have to ship it for me to look at it.

Thanks maybe I can replace the belt myself.

When I first got this player back in 2020, the first time I tried to use it, it would randomly skip around on discs a lot. I went in and fiddled with the LD tilt pot and that got it to stop skipping, but it's always had the crosstalk issue. That makes me think that yeah it's just way out of calibration. I thought I'd finally try to get it fixed.

I have other players without any issues, but I really like how the 919 has the full array of connections/outputs on the back. All my others players are missing one thing or another.

Shipping LD players is scary, so that's definitely a last resort but properly calibrating it is probably outside of my capability.

If you decide to ship it anywhere purchase a double walled corrugated box and then purchase bubble wrap and only use bubble wrap around the player as peanuts crush down under heavy electronics. Needs to be a minimum of 2 inches of bubble wrap on all sides.
