I have a proscan psld43.
A family member decided to watch a movie on my laserdisc player and when they were done they turned it off without stopping the movie or ejecting the ld.
The player now when powered on does.. Nothing. The ld is stuck inside, pressing play and so on does nothing as if the player has nothing in it and ejecting doesn't work. Nothing moves or makes the slightest sound.

that should not do anything to the player unless you moved it while it was off.

i had a pioneer 102 or something like that, very low end, it was stuck with a disc, so i had to take the top off
and remove the disc, once it was out i pluged it back in and turned it on and everything was fine.

so unplug, get that screw driver ready and do it at your own risk.

It's in a secure place so nothing should have happened to it short of an earthquake happening. I've yet to leave a disc inside so I wasn't sure if that could have been the issue. After taking the top off I can clearly see where this disc is being held by the center circular piece (bare with me, I've never done this before) what exactly should I be unscrewing and messing with though?

i don't know, i've never seen that proscan.
if it's like the pioneer one i have there will be a 3 inch bar across the top that has the round plastic holding the disc.
there should be 4 screws on that 3 inch bar, it should be 3 inch by the width of the player.
remove those screws in the corners and you should be able to remove the disc.

if it's a different build than the bar across i don't really know what to do.
you can post a picture and others will help.
but if it's like the one i think then it will come off and you will be set, just put it back the same.

Turning off the player while its running shouldn't cause a problem. The CPU has a shut down procedure where it parks the discs and returns the laser. Now, cutting power completely, maybe with a power strip or if the player is plugged into a receiver that powers things, could confuse it but even that shouldn't be an issue. Sometimes these things happen though and often times you once you get it unstuck its fine for years.

If you pull the cover off and the disc is still mounted (ie: you can spin the disc, its not sitting on the tray) then you need to remove the upper clamp, like rein-o said, at which point you can carefully remove the towards the side of the player. Hopefully then you can put the thing together and it will power up. If not, you may have blown a fuse.

Not the best picture, but this is a top down view of it.

yeah, that's like the newer players, just start unscrewing the brackets that hold the disc, only the ones that are across.
from the picture it looks like you took the screws out already, so lift it up and remove the disc.
then put it back together power up and it should be fine.
if not something else happened and you'll have to send it for repair unless you can figure it out.

Yeah, I took them out assuming that was the correct part.
I ran into a problem when doing that though, the long horizontal piece in the front (I assume it relates to the door somehow) is down an doesn't allow enough room to remove the ld.

i can't help you with that, sorry.
you'll have to figure out if you can pull it out on an angle or see what latch you can remove or find levers that are holding that part down.
