When playing Red Balloon, The/White Mane #??? (1952) [CC2000L] the credits for "White Mane" appear distorted. The distortion appears only when white text appears and the image corrects itself the moment the text does not appear.

My LD player is a Mitsubishi M-V7057 (a.k.a. Pioneer CLD-D704). This problem occurs regardless if playing "White Mane" as the A-side or B-side within the player.

Any suggestions as to the cause and possible fix? I'm guessing the player is having problems reading the credits. But does this indicate that the player needs adjustment, or that the LD was pressed out of spec ('cause I've not encountered this problem with any other disc)?

Here are some pics:

Are you sure the problem is not with your television?

If the distortion always occurs at the same location every time it could be an LD issue or the servo adjustment.

If this is the only LD this happens with I would leave it alone. You would have to pay labor and shipping for someone like myself to test the player and disc combo and verify player alignments.

publius,
I hooked up the Mitsubishi M-V7057 (a.k.a. Pioneer CLD-D704) to another TV, but still the same problem.

Kurtis,
I think I'll take your advise and just leave it alone. I have no issue when playing any of my other 100+ discs, so it is probably not worth opening a can of worms just for the credit sequence of one disc.

Today I hooked up two additional players (Panasonic LX-900 and Pioneer CLD-D703) and tested this disc. The CLD-D703 also had the same problem during the credits, however the Panasonic LX-900 played the credits just fine.

Just curious... Anyone else have this disc? What player do you have and do the "White Mane" credits distort for you?

I still believe this LD just has sections that works the servo to the max and you found one player adjusted for that. That model player is not better than others it is just that one player. I believe I could adjust the 703 or 7057 to play it too.

I still stand with is it worth $100 or more to adjust a player to play one LD.
