Someone sent me an email about his dvl-909 displaying the Flash sum error...?

I'm lucky enough never encountering this issue myself but I read/heard about this fault...

I suspect this is the dvd board missing it's firmwire? the top board sitting inside the player?
or am I wrong?
since I have one available (that works) I might be able to help him out....

For the dvl units they actually load the controller on the board behind the front face with the appropriate code from the flash ic. Same board on multiple players with different flash. Sounds like your flash ic is bad or the controller is having issues loading the code.

Changing the front display board would solve the issue? no need to change out the dvd board?

I am referring to error codes when you first power on the unit. If this only happens when playing a DVD and CD's or LD's play fine then the DVD board could be the problem. I have an extra board if you need to buy one.

Dvd board was replaced... now it's all up and running.
