I need this replacement part for my player. Pioneer Australia can't supply it, I contacted Pioneer USA but apparently they don't ship outside the US. I've also found it at a couple of online parts suppliers, though they are slightly more expensive than Pioneer. If Pioneer US won't make an exception to their shipping policy (I've asked - waiting for reply) I'll order it from one of those other online parts suppliers like pacparts, but before I do that I though I'd just ask if anyone has any better idea or could suggest any other supplier I might not have been able to find online? Thanks |

I don't know if it would make financial sense to pay double shipping but I can direct it to you if you have them ship to my address. Check shipping rates online at usps.com |

Thank you very much for the offer but I think you're right. The difference between Pioneer and the others is a few dollars which would probably then be lost in the extra postage. I just wondered if anyone was aware of other options I might not have considered or know about. |

That's the grip ring for the clamper? I've wondered whether you could cut a piece out of a rubber jar opener. |

That's it, here's a close up: Attachment: This one's pretty worn and hardened. The surface would be dimpled to help with grip. When I first saw this it reminded be of the rubber surface on the table-tennis bats we had as kids. Those dimples were a lot bigger from memory but it did get me thinking of a starting point for a substitute since I assume the part is no longer made and there's a finite supply left. At a guess I suppose matching the thickness might be the most important part to keep the mechanism working properly? When I get my hands on a genuine part I'll photograph it, measure the thickness with some callipers and keep that info safe for a day when maybe I can't get the part any more. |

The one I replaced on the CLD-D503 is VERY thin, so you may be able to find a new piece of rubber but you may never find it thin enough. I think this may be all of our issues with LD players sooner than later. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

If it's really that thin, the solution is to apply a light coat of that liquid rubber compound they sell for coating the handles of tools, & then stipple it as it hardens. |
