Thanks for the reply. That is appreciated, but I have to disagree with you, because how do you explain my other LD player does not show this with the exact same LD discs?
Also, if it is on the disc(s) itself, why doesn't is show up when viewing frame by frame? (either backwards and forward)

In "trick play" it's usually impossible to say if the field that's being digitized and doubled is the exact one in question. If you have one of the players that actually lets you pick the field (R7G was it?) I think you'd find it.

As for why it shows more on some players than others, there are many reasons. The dropout compensation circuit changes from player to player, as does the SNR. Even when two of the same model are compared...LD players are like guitars or pinball machines. No two are truely identical since there is just too much analog going on. Some players play through rot way better than others for example, in many cases where neither the status of the player or the condition would seem to indicate they were anything special. It might be a S201 with zero service history and an inch of dirt on top but somehow play straight through Eraser with no issues.

Now, I'm not sitting with you watching your setup in person so I can't say anything for sure, but if the phenomenon you are describing is the same one I've experienced so many times that I don't even notice it anymore, then it's totally normal and unfixable. It's a defect in the pressing, most likely not in the master. I bet you could find other copies of the same movie with the same black lines in the same spots if you collected enough of them.

Cool, thanks for the reply and explanation.

Although I am not a technician, I opened the player and I found 4 small screws in the player. (See attachment).
Not sure what these do. In the service manual there is no mention of them, anyone who can help out? (I am still searching for a real Dutch technician who can service my players).

A properly aligned tilt sensor and tracking can help with crosstalk in non-pathological cases - you'ld need the service manual and a pioneer reference disk (ggv1069), maybe even a scope, but if the disk is really bad it ain't going away.

I missed your post regarding the sensors. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know a Pioneer service point or someone who can service a laserdisc player in the Netherlands?

Unfortunately not... I did try the yellow screws inside the player. That did not help.
In de meantime I bought another good 909 and kept the defective one for the parts.

I have been trying to track you down on the facebook groups to see if you had resolved the issue haha. Didnt think you would reply to a 4 year old post!

My 909 I have had since 2004, light use since then and in April had the same issues as you, white lines up to 10 mins in on A, they go and then return on side B for 10 odd mins. The only advice I have recieved is.

*Possible recap required on the power board.
*Issue with the tilt sensor.

May have a look at the caps again to see if I can see any issue
