Hi all laserdisc owners.
I am located at Greece. I'm having a home cinema since 1996, around 250 laserdiscs and a Pioneer CLD-D925 player.
Unfortynately the original grey M-holder is broken so I am trying to find a black VNL1779 instead (great help from Kurtis, thanks again!)
The lowest price I found is from Donberg Electronics, Ireland. With VAT and shipping costs it comes at around 31.00€.
Any help for another source;

Thank you in advance (sorry for my first post asking for help...)

31 EUR VAT+Shipped doesn't sound too bad for me.

Other option would be to locate a broken/junk compatible player and recycle the parts you need.

Thanks! I thought the price was high but if you think so, I will proceed.
A used player of the DVL series is an option but it will have high shiping costs to Greece and I will only need it for the M-holder as my player is the CLD-D925.

(By the way, just saw the presentation thread so I introduced myself there)

Thank you again.

It is outrageously expensive compared to what the spare part cost originally from Pioneer. But it is not available anymore so if you want it new, you will have to go with Donberg. BUT be advised, they might take a LONG time to ship.

Yeah, send them an e-mail about it. I think I read somewhere in here that their payment method sucks as well.

Any help to find it from a Japanese dealer; I read in here that in Japan Pioneer stocks a few thousands of M-holders.

Unfortunately you are right. I called Pioneer Greece official spare parts center and said it's discontinued and not available anymore.

I have searched for those for hours all over Europe and if I remember right, I got lucky by buying the last two from some shop in the UK. Donberg will not cheat you, BUT they are not honest about what they have in stock. So prepare yourself for a long wait until you get it.

A woman from Donberg replied back. Here's what she wrote:

"Dear Customer,

Sorry, I can not help you in this matter. discontinued

However, any new enquiries are welcome .

Sorry, we do not have this battery in our range

with best Regards"

Sold out at PacParts as well :-(

http://www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?part_no=VNL1779&mfg=Pioneer

Availability: NOT AVAILABLE FROM PACPARTS

Even if they had generous stocks few years back, did the selling of Pioneer A/V or reaching some "not required by law to hold spare parts anymore" contractual clause made them dump the whole thing?

If you try to get spare from NEC or DENON, the moment your device reaches 10 years since discontinuation, they just get rid of all the specific parts and refuse to fix it anymore :-(
Or sometimes they just play stupid like TOSHIBA Singapore's "What is HDDVD exactly?".

are all the m-holders the same? I was thinking of getting it from Donberg but if they don't have any then I will have to do something else.

The gray M-Holder had a different part number. The VNL-1779 is the improved black one.

Upon reassembly do you have to lubricate with silicon grease the pins for the 2 plastic gears and the gears as well on the VNL1779;

I have two of these M-holders laying around. If anyone's interested in buying them let me know, we can probably make out a fair deal. :)

Oh, yeah, that doesn't look like something you could just reproduce at home.

I mean, you probably could, but not very easily!
