I think your issue is going to be a lot simpler to resolve now. :thumbup:

I wouldn't be surprised if the unit took a hard knock if I am to assume it was shipped to you. That was probably the case w/ my 704 as well.

Maybe it's a loose cap or some other component?

Whacking the player can't be good in the long term, but this reminds me of a TV I used to have that would slowly go out of tune but slapping it would fix it, at least temporarily. :mrgreen:

I had the same issue with my LD-X1, before cleaning video out, and asking Pioneer to repair it (they had to change some caps and components).

That's a very good possibility as well if the issue is not related to an alignment problem. That's why it's important to open up the player and fiddle around to see what location is affected by the whack. Cold solder joints is a good possibility as well considering the complicated nature of an M series player (the more wiring one has, the more that can go wrong over time).
