Found two mint new "old stock" Kenwood ld players. They surprise me regarding picture quality and ease of build.
They play cd with loading the first time like a breeze.
Laserdiscs work great but both units need 2 attempts to start spinning a ld. Once a disc inside the players try reading the ld but they fail every first time. I hit play again and they both spin without a problem. If I open the drawer when they fail to spin up I get the same loading issue. I suspect it is just a simple loading belt issue.
Removed and cleaned the belts on both machines but no luck. Did notice the belts are a little out of shape. The players are never used. They just sat in their box unopened. All the grease is fine and they sound very quiet.

I found the original Kenwood spare part number of these belts but they are unavailable. How do I measure these to get a generic new belt. I did found a few sites who provide belts.

The Pioneer loading belts are no fit... I can dream can't I :D

Since I have no experience with Kenwood players (karaoke included on both) I started playing around with the players.
It appears both players are doing a "lead in" before actually stopping the disc. Watched A video online from an earlier model Kenwood player and it acts the same upon "loading"
Might it be normal upon loading they first read the data on the disc and come to a stop mode?
They also recognize the disc upon "lead in" for ac-3 audio that appears in the display

Simple as it can be. They both perform "lead in" when you hit the button to close the tray
When you push play immediatly instead of "close" they start playing without a problem.
No more "lead in" procedure this way. Confusing player(s) those karaoke things :P

If anyone should have tips to find spare loading belts....

There are posts about the belt, I believe its 3.6
You could also do the hard way by getting a piece of string and wrapping it around and then measure.
