So I just watched silence of the lambs on LD (Silence of the Lambs, The (1991) [LD 12819]).
During the second side play, there was severe jumps from a scene to another 5 to 10 minutes further, on the screen, it looked like a really fast forward.
I'd like to know what is the cause of this, the disc looks good, and I know it isn't the player, since I watched another LD just before watching this one.

The nature of LD is that while you know the problem isn’t TOTALLY the disc or TOTALLY the player it sometimes is the perfect combination of the two that will result in weird running.

What is the player? Many players have a common mechanical fault that causes skipping or alignment issues on side B but will continue normally otherwise in all other tasks. If you are using a single sided player then the disc is much more suspect, IMHO.

Does this happen when you play side B first??
Try playing side B first and tell us the results.

Yeah, if it’s a Both Side player put it in upside down and select Side B (which will actually be Side A) and see if that moves the problem.

My player is a Pioneer CLD-D925.
So I just tested what you said, side A being played on side B, so nothing happened, I tried playing side B on side A, still played fine.
I tried to play it as normal then (side A on A, side B on B), and the side A plays fine, but the B side played like yesterday, with severe fast forwarding during the end (from around the 30th minute of side B through the end of the side, just like yesterday).
So I really don't know what causes this, I double checked the disc again, looks mint actually, no marks, no stains no finger prints.

With the disc upside down, so Player side A is actually playing Disc Side B, the side plays all the way through on "Disc Side B"? Does Disc Side A play all the way through on Player Side B? If yes to both questions, it's possible there is a warp that the player cannot track when the pickup is on top.

Well yes, that's what's happening, when disc is upside down, it plays fine on both sides, when I put it back, it has the same problem on side B only.
Since I watched other movies (3), no problem at all.
So my guess is that the disc is somewhat faulty, but why only on one side and only when the disc is placed correctly ?

Oh s**t, I think it's actually my player. I just watched another movie and it did it again on side B, I noticed it starts occurring around the 30 minute mark, so maybe there is something specific happening during a disc playback at the 30th minutes that makes my player lose track ?

As blam asked:
Does the disc have a warp????

I ask:
Did these discs play fine before and now have an issue??

for silence of the lambs, it was the first time I played the disc, but the movie I watched today was Outbreak, that I already saw once flawlessly around a year ago.
I checked both, they seem to be straight (I mean no curve or warp or whatever).
Besides I experienced warp before, it doesn't play like this, there are zigzaging lines on the screen, and the disc rotation sounds like he is scratching against something in the player, and there is no fast forwarding like this.

Did you put the disc flat on a surface to make sure.
Very little can make the player go funny.

I've got a D925 coming within the next week so I've not had a chance to play with one. My thinking is the B-Side tilt offset, which is an electrical adjustment. However not all players have side specific tilt adjustments. It isn't the side-B centering (Mechanical), because that would effect playback at the beginning of the disc, not the end.

Hey guys, I still need your help to find the issue, and also, why would that not properly work anymore from one day to another ?
