Form filled and sent for me as well. I got a good use for the 500 maximum characters allowed in the inquiry, so I also tried to highlight the environmental side effects as well if the parts got discarded without further a due, unless taken over by someone like Julien. Don't think that will actually help us, but if it's worth it - it's worth it!
Good luck, Julien. :)

That's a very good point and you never know it may just make a difference in these time!

Just sent mine also,

Best of luck Julien

I also send a form asking how I’m going to get the parts I need to repair and refurbish players.

If they do throw out their parts inventory, does this spell the end of OEM LD servicing? That would be a real bummer. I don't have any Japanese players and therefore cannot fill out the form but I love my Pioneer player and I hope the forms are successful!

I do not have any Japanese market players myself - a CLD-D925 & a CLD-1010 - but they are PIONEER Japanese made.

You can still send a message, if enough people get on to them it may help.

Polite pester power might help as the more people that make contact will let them know that Julien is genuine & sincere in his request.

GOT AN UPDATE FROM PIONEER

Short version: bad news, they won't do anything and trash the inventory. But we can still order basic remote controls (CU-CLD134) before they get dumped too.

Long version

Quote:
Unfortunately, for product safety reasons, we do not sell internal parts of products. This is Pioneer's policy.
The accessories of the laser disc player are available for sale if they are in stock.
The deadline for purchasing accessories is September 30, 2020, but we will accept your orders for one week after the deadline.
Please note that we will not be able to accept any orders after that date.

In addition, we have checked the inventory of the accessories of the laser disc player that you asked about.
As it has been many years since the product was released, we are only able to provide CLD-R5 remote control, but we have a small amount of stock. We have no other accessories in stock.

I asked for other venues (PacParts and other resellers we used in the past) as well as listing critical M-HOLDER that breaks and are hard to replace now.

Quote:
First of all, regarding the purchase of Laserdisc player parts, we don't know how to get other methods except direct purchase of accessories from Pioneer.

As we informed you in our previous e-mail, we, as a company policy, must not sell any internal parts for product safety.
Therefore, we are unable to sell M-HOLDER.

Lastly, we would like to inform the availability and price of the CU-CLD134.
As of September 30, 2020, we have 48 pcs in stock and the price of a single part is 2,420 yen (tax included).
If you would like to order, please contact us via email and we will be pleased to assist you.

That's US$23 per remote control, a basic model that is compatible with at least these models but will not provide player-specific controls:

    LD-S9 / CU-LD020 (VXX2464) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-R7G / CU-CLD150 (VXX2541) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-R6G / CU-CLD140 (VXX2416) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-C5G / CU-CLD113 (VXX2240) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-R4 / CU-CLD111 (VXX2245) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-C3 / CU-CLD111 (VXX2245) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-Z1 / CU-CLD110 (VXX2169) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-HF7G / CU-CLD109 (VXX2127) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-HF9G / CU-CLD108 (VXX2126) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
    CLD-S270 / CU-CLD106 (VXX2115) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)

No shipping costs, I'd collect them when I retrieve my LD-S9 from the Service Center.

What do you think... Should I get a dozen of them as backups?

Julien

It's very good that you are willing to do this Julien. I don't feel that I'd ever personally need one of these but of course that's not what this is about therefore I would suggest if other members were prepared to do the same I'd happily chuck in a $/€/£ or so towards a purchase, what do others think?

Just don't get the product safety bit, where's the problem with experienced qualified LD specialists continuing to provide refurbishment/repair work on these players? I could understand this attitude if this was a company based in Europe as we are all well used to this commonly OTT attitude these days sadly probably similar in US also? Never thought it would have prevailed in Japan though....guess its just a global thing then in these times....

Ultimately... someone contacted me some time ago to work on a phone app that connects to an Infra Red module and could be able to emulate any remote control for which we have a signal list.

This way we'd just have to learn controls once and have them available to others forever.
Never a lost remote control because we wouldn't need them.

So... would piling up 48 basic remote controls make sense?

Julien

Indeed, I obviously didn't know of the app you mention, but your last sentence had crossed my mind before I posted when just thinking about using existing learning remotes as replacements, although my offer still stands should people here think the option of a small purchase of these Pioneer remotes would be a sensible thing to do?

Aside from jog wheel functionality I use a Harmony Elite to control my CLD-D925 most of the time. Folk may well choose to go down that road or use a One4All-type remote when supplies of official remotes dry up?

It's a lot of money for 48 remote controls if you think about it. I could help by donating some $ if there would be a fund raiser campaign, but that really comes down to each members interest in this and that we are many enough. When Julien has aquired all of them and sells them individually, the profit of the sale by each of them could go directly to paying for monthly hosting costs or something that benefits the forum/community. But that really depends on if there's still a market to get a brand new genuine remote control and that would need an advertisement at the website to promote the batch of remote controls that LDDB sells.

I forgot to mention that you should ask about the test disks as well (i.e. GGV1069 and the unobtanium PAL version)

Player calibration is important to get the best captures out of your equipment, and they are still in good demand.

I personally wouldn’t stock up on the CU-CLD134 as it just has basic functions and does not control the DNR adjustments on the higher end players.

It's really sad to see that's kind of things :(

Maybe we can find stuff in their trash or the closest dump  or ask for the company that recycle it if we can take it.

I'll get, let's say, 10x CU-CLD134 if it can help save a mid-range player without a proper remote.

At least they are genuinely new and come straight from Pioneer, no risk there.

I should improve my googling skills, Pioneer was still officially servicing CLD-R5 and CLD-R7G.

I guess I'm lucky my LD-S9 went through because they share the same "slider assy w/ pick up" VWT1100.

From Pioneer FAQ, last manufacturing dates:

    DVL-K88: July 2009
    DVK-900: June 2009
    DVL-919 & CLD-R5: May 2009
    HLD-X9: July 2002 -- I did see a HLD-X9 with BBTT006968JP serial = February 2002
    DVL-H9 & LD-S9: June 2002
