Hello. So I'm importing an LD player from Japan and need to get a step down transformer. I currently use a cheapy one on my APD-2 (one of those black ones that looks like an old Mega Drive, sorry Genesis, PSU). However I saw this and wondered would it power my new LD player and my APD-2 at the same time? https://airlinktransformers.com/product ... -uk-ja0750I'm fine on the input and output voltages, it's the VA i'm unsure of. I'd like to have a two plug transformer like the one linked to above so I can power both devices off of one UK/Ireland plug. That can then plug in to a smart plug which will form part of my Logitech Harmony automation setup. One less plug and step down transformer to put behind the AV cabinet. Will the transformer above be enough?

Yes very much possible. That's what I'm doing in Japan right now. One 100V outlet goes to a power strip for 100V Japan devices. The other 100V outlet goes to a 120V setup-up with a power strip for 115~120V US devices. Make sure the power strip matches the tolerance. When I plugged a Canadian power strip on Singapore 230V it went up in smoke... luckily the fuse did its job to signal how stupid I was being! Julien

I looked in to a power strip from Jeff's website and when I add up the price of the power strip, shipping, import tax, swamp insurance, jaguar's earlobes, wolf nipple chips and so on it just makes more sense to buy the 2 outlet Airlink transformer. I'd have gone for the power strip a few years ago when I still had my PC Engine Duo R, PC Engine GT and Astro City cabinet. Now it's just the new LD player and APD-2. A good option to think about in future perhaps though.

For my CLD-R7G, I recently bought a Tacima step-down converter of 50VA The CLD-R7G is 30W and has the power supply of 120V, this means I can connect a Tacima 50VA step-down converter without any problems risking a fire hazard? This step-down converter is it perfectly safe to use as it only exceeds an extra 20 watts over the 30W CLD-R7G player?50va 230v Schuko to 110/120v Voltage Convertor with one American socket. VA 50 Input Voltage 230 Input Termination 3 pin Schuko plug Input Current 0.2 amps 0.4 Output Voltage 110/120 Output Termination One 110/120v American 2-pin socket I wonder why Airlink describes this as a 3 pin Schuko plug when it looks more like a 2 pin Cee7 non-polarized euro plug???Schuko plugs are only for wall sockets with ground/earth connection for safe use. https://airlinktransformers.com/product ... -eu-us0052

On topic: I got this step-down unit for my CDL-919, which wasn’t working properly, but well enough to verify that the power supply was working. I’m wondering, given some of the critical reviews, is this is just too cheap to be using for this application?
