I recently got a D604 and it vibrates a little. Its not terrible, but its worse than by LD-V2200 by a mile. In fact, I used to own a S201 and its pretty similar to that. When cheap players get old...they start to shake, I guess.

The odd thing is that the worst disc for shaking is actually Best of Bubblegum Crisis Music 2 [CTV24-112] which I just played on my friends Laseractive and it doesn't shake whatsoever in his player. I re-indexed the disc by reloading it multiple times and it always shakes pretty bad.

Of course the most stable discs are stuff like Lumavision releases, JP imports, etc, and the worst ones are Image Entertainment, AD Vision, no surprises there. The only odd thing is the puny little anime CDV that makes a pretty nasty noise (but plays perfectly).

So what are the options for maybe reducing this? I've thought that make the clamp on top is maybe not as strong as it used to be, but now I'm wondering about maybe the bearings in the motor?

When Pioneer started the Honeycomb bottom that allow them to start making players lighter in weight claiming the same stability. Less weight vibrates easier.

Only other reason for excessive vibration is spindle motor wear.

Is there a database somewhere where I can learn the part # for the motor and maybe get a replacement? Maybe there are just 10,000 hours on the thing and its worn out.
