I have a dvd concert of Nena, a German vocalist. It was imported and needs to be played on a multiregion player. The dvd has no settings for languages (only audio). In the past my Pioneer unit could be set to put in English or other language subtitles.

On this disc I can't get English subtitles to see the lyrics. Do the subtitles get placed by the disc encoding or by the player? I have discs that don't offer a language but the player can produce it so I'm confused. Any tips or knowledge espescially on how I can get subtitles on this disc. Thanks.

Subtitles are 100% of the time encoded onto the disc. If they don't exist on the disc, there is no way to have the player display them. Sometimes they are encoded on the disc but there is no menu to access them, but they still need to be included on the disc in order to see them.

Thanks for the answer. Guess I'll have to look up the lyrics on line to these somewhat obscure songs - but translated into English versions to follow along lyrically with the concert. :eh:

Yeah, back in '83. Her career was resurrected in 2002 and she is back to being a major star in Germany. The 2010 concert I have of her is incredible. Not normally my pick buts it's done well with clean sound and enough Euro-swagger. Shes 51!
