I bought a used RCA LDR610 years ago and it played pretty well then (as I recall). I plugged it in a few weeks ago and it had playback issues. First, it does not always play the disc. Sometimes it will re-open the tray, sometimes it will just not play. I found that, if I press PLAY as soon as it begins to pull in the disc, it recognizes the disc and plays. the flip feature works as well. Second, when it does play, the picture is always very static-y (but the audio is clear). I tried both RCA and s-video, cleaning the contacts, opened the unit to blow out dust and carefully cleaned the laser. The video seemed a little better (or at least I thought it did) but it is still static-y. Any suggestions for what might need fixing (and how to do it)? I already reached out to a local repair person and they said that would not work on it (b/c he could not "get support for the parts"). Thanks!

The loading / playing issue you are describing is simply (as I have probably said in many other posts ) your loading belt needing to be replaced. I believe this model is based on the Pioneer Gamma Turn chassis so you need to order VEB-1184. They are available on eBay here...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-VEB118 ... SwgQ9Vou1qAs for the noise you are getting, that’s a tad more difficult. Are you sure the static you are seeing is not a “laser rotted” disc that you are playing since that’s what rot looks like (drop out lines)? Do have other movies you can play to verify? A picture would help a lot too if you can post it.

Thanks - I'll give that belt a try. I have played several other discs in case of potential laser rot and the static is the same - all-over static (not in a pattern, area or lines). I'll provide photos soon.

The belt I received (suggested above) is very, very thin and the belt on the player is significantly thicker. Will this thin belt really be able to handle the load that needed a thicker belt on this player? If the belt is really that off spec, I would ask the buyer about it and see about getting a return/refund on it. But before you do that, could you post a pic of both belts? It would help to picture just how thin it might be. Based on the pics shown on eBay, they do look like the correct thickness but then it depends on what they actually sent you. I'm just curious just to see if maybe your original belt was maybe too thick. Addendum.... I was checking some pics of the my recent belt change for this same belt and actually noticed that the new belt that I received is indeed a tad bit thinner but nothing significant that I think would cause an issue. You can judge for yourself (my apologies for the picture being on its side; couldn't correct it for some odd reason).....
