C++, thanks! I applied several coats of super glue. It looks messy, but I think it will work. I'll leave it to dry for two days. Monday morning I will try to insert the rod into place.

Crazy glue won't work. you need epoxy.

This type of plastic won't hold with crazy glue, maybe one play but then pop off it will be.
Epoxy is the way to go.

I have already glued plastic with superglue, which is under constant pressure. It hasn't broken for several years.
If the glue doesn't work, I'll try epoxy.

Guys, I put the laser in place. But new problems arose.
1) The tray does not close. A white plastic piece is in the way. Probably it shouldn't be there at all when the tray is closed.
https://disk.yandex.ru/i/O48z2ATR3bpjNA
2) I inserted a CD, but the player doesn't want it. Without a disc, it turns out the same. I am getting U1 error.
https://disk.yandex.ru/i/gdIs30Ual57KyA

Probably these two problems are somehow related.

Leave tray out for now.

White plastic piece is tray selector switch. Need to set it back to LD position.

U1 could be belt or M-Holder.

C++, thanks for your reply.

I rearranged this switch as you said. It's right? https://disk.yandex.ru/i/Y2QpVLDWiHVzSQ
At least it now opens and closes normally. https://disk.yandex.ru/i/RtaFHw0DmdDIyw

The belt and holder seem to be in good condition. It definitely worked before it was sent to me.

The player still cannot spin the disc: https://disk.yandex.ru/i/dpDYYEnbYwpyuQ

Is it possible that my transformer is not delivering the required power? Or would the player not work at all then?

I found this little part inside. Can you tell me where I should put it? https://disk.yandex.ru/i/zB_Chyg5ERe3Zw

That piece looks to be the plastic that goes over the lens:

I would not try to reattach it.

Your belt looks worn in that photo. I'd order a new one, but in the meantime, take it off, wash it with water and clean the pulleys in the player with cotton swab and alcohol. If you still get U1, gently try to help the mechanism finish raising with your hand. Don't use any real force. If that does not complete loading, something is probably out of place in regards to timing or something is bent.

Cleaning the belt helped! https://disk.yandex.ru/i/NYn_3Pt5dTOJ8w Thank you C++, you're cool! I could not imagine that the player did not work because of the small belt.

Unfortunately I can't check how the LDs play yet, but the CD works fine. I'll check again next week when my LDs arrive.

Belts cause a majority of these issues. Especially if they are auto reverse players.

One has to realize that the loading belt is responsible for opening/closing the tray, lowering & raising the tray (Alpha Turn system) or transport mechanism (Gamma & Epsilon Turn system), and finally tilt during the flip stage (I think Alpha Turn only but I could be wrong).

In any case, if a belt is easily 10 - 15 years old, you probably need a new one.

Yeah, I underestimated the importance of the belt. I have already ordered new ones.

Couldn't wait until next week  I went to the FedEx office and collected the discs myself. Then I went to my workshop. LD disc playback works!
https://disk.yandex.ru/i/7Mjqn0L5YbH04Q
(The player seems to be working a little noisy. I don't know if you can hear it on the video. Is this normal for LD players?)

Thanks a lot, everyone! It was interesting, good experience.

Can't really hear anything.

Glad it is working. Since you had to glue Side A rail back, ensure first minute or so of a CD plays without skipping.

I will be checking it on Saturday all day. Unfortunately, there is no time now.
I want to lubricate some areas with silicone grease.
During delivery, the side of the protective cover was slightly deformed. I want to fix this.
There are also small scratches. I'll try to hide them.
Then I'll finally take the player home.

Ha ha!
I would not be surprised if only I have an LD player in my country. All the people who entered the workshop thought it was an expensive CD player or turntable

New problems arose  Today I started watching the concert for the test. For the first 20-25 minutes everything was fine.

In the fifth chapter, interference began. These were mainly horizontal multi-colored stripes, sometimes they moved vertically. (I watched this on s-video from the capture card, if it matters) Sometimes the picture moved out a little. Rarely did sound and picture come out for a split second. I thought the disk was dirty, I pressed the stop. I heard a terrible sound. I don't know how to say in English, it was like a ratchet. This lasted for several seconds. Then I opened the tray and I removed the disc.

I cleaned the disc and put it back in. I started to switch chapters. The first four chapters looked fine. But the fifth chapter looked bad again. I started to switch further, but the next chapters looked bad too. I also noticed that switching to each next chapter takes longer.

The player switched to the eighth chapter for a very long time. I got tired of waiting and pressed stop. I heard that awful sound again, but this time it lasted longer and I ended up getting an E3 error. I removed the disk without any problems.

Unfortunately I was late and did not have time to check with another disc and record the video. I think the problem is not in the disk. It has some minor scratches but looks good overall. I read that there might be a power problem. Is it possible that the problem is in the transformer? Perhaps it does not provide the required power?

Side A rail is probably not perfectly straight.

Can I somehow force-switch to side B using a single-sided disc?

One more question. Does the player distinguish between sides A and B? Or the player can only know if the disc is single-sided or double-sided?
For example, I put side B in the player. Will it start playing side B or will it move the laser up and start playing side A?

Put disc in tray then press Side B button.

It will play whatever is facing down in the tray.
