Post subject:  CLD-R7G disassembly and repair

Hello. My R7G arrived from Japan but was damaged during delivery :o I turned it on, I just hear a small motor inside, the tray does not open. (display lights up, I think the electronics are ok)
I noticed that with a little shaking, something dangles inside the player. I removed the protective cover and found some plastic shards. https://disk.yandex.ru/i/qWXnmhueikBfmg
Sound is heard from this part of the player. https://disk.yandex.ru/i/Y8LYnwdin7sWTA

The case appears to be intact. I think this was due to the strong shaking.

I wanted to take it apart, but the mechanism seems to be very complicated. I hope that the forum can help me with disassembling, repairing and assembling the player.

Thanks.

The plastic pieces kinda look like parts of the hub. The hub carrier is removed in the one picture. Do you have it? I’m talking about the large metal bar that used to go right across the top of the player.

Are you talking about a metal thing that looks like the letter H? I unscrewed it.

I would like to know the correct order of disassembly to get to the place under the tray.

Is there anything wrong with the plastic piece in the center of the metal bar you removed?

Getting to stuff under the tray usually requires that you open the tray…I realize this can make things difficult.

How can I push it? I tried to twist the gears under the tray, but it didn't work.

Luckily you are dealing with an R7G which has a lot of room inside to see and fix.

Don't push anything, did you pay for insurance??? Any contact from seller.
You should be able to figure out easily but it will take time to get that tray out.

Once you open the tray you are set to see what is wrong.

My guess is a broken motorholder. If the pins break holding the gears or motorholder of the laser snapped ...
Sometimes the parts do not rattle around inside the player but the laser is sitting on top of the broken parts.
Common issue when shipping players using this loading assy!

I have already contacted the intermediary. An investigation is underway.

Is it hard to fix? I guess I can glue the broken parts together. But I'm not sure if I can assemble the device as it was.

Is it a good idea to start disassembly by removing the bezel? I want to do the disassembly of the player at this time tomorrow.
Can you give recommendations on what to do and what not to do?

Try to find a copy of the Pioneer CLD-210KVT service manual. From what I remember it's pretty close to the R7G. It should give you the information you need to pull out / remove the tray and figure out where the broken piece might be located on the inside (plus its part number). Might be worth a shot.

As I understood from the instructions, I need to turn on the player and open the tray. It seems impossible in my case.

The bar is the rod that the laser runs on, the other is the actual laser I think with motor for the laser to move it back and forth.
Looks like a bigger job than you may want.

Don't rush, wait to hear for insurance and I know it wasn't cheap and wait for others to help on how to get the tray out.

I've heard of others, nissling? who got one and the rod was just popped back in.
It also happened to mine but I think there were other issues and it was before the forum so I sent it off for repair back around 2003ish.
You will need that tray out then you can try to see what needs to be done next.

Forgot the CLD-R7G has black M-Holder, so it might be fine.

That looks like Side A rail. The broken black plastic pieces in the first photo might be the front clips for it. The back of that rail is hollow and slips into a black plastic piece that is part of the mechanism. When this breaks, I have to replace the entire mechanism. You can try gluing it back, but it has to be very precise since it will affect Side A centering.

You need to eject the tray manually by turning the pulley with the belt around it.

Can you show in the picture what I have to move, please? I tried to turn the gears, but it seems it was for the laser: https://yadi.sk/i/N9iH3HZ-e7XgGw

By the way, I tried to turn on the player without laser and open the tray. I got error E0. I plugged in the laser and did the same and got the same error. At the same time, the motor on the laser was spinning. It looks like some kind of sensor should work for the tray to start opening.

I got what you mean. I'm surprised that there is no lubricant on the rod. Or it has dried up.

The pulley with rubber belt around it that you labeled "I twisted it". One way raises the mech, the other ejects the tray.

Thank you friend! That helped. It was so easy.
Now I need to put the rod back in place. I don’t see where the plastic shards came off yet.

Thanks for the fantastic photos jefix.
Again i genuinely wish you the best luck with the R7G.
Can anyone identify where the comb filter is on the chipboards?

It seems to be on the side. Third from the left.
