When I was a teen I heard about laserdiscs and asked for a player. I was given one eventually as a gift and was thrilled. I took it to college with me and used to rent discs from Sight and Sound in Waltham (and bought a few as well). Years passed and I ended up with a DVL700 and eventually transitioned to only keeping a few LD's.

SOme years ago I got a better player and it sat dormant. Last year I finally hooked it up with a Retrotink 5x pro for upscalling (yes I'm aware it's not great.)

then a few weeks ago I saw a deal on FB marketplace - 175 discs for 300 bucks. i snapped them up and have started cataloging them (and others I had kept over the years).

I'm loving sorting through the FB marketplace deal, i would love to have met this collector, he and I would have gotten along. Anyway, happy to be here.

Multiple Criterion discs, so that alone makes me happy! Two bucks for a Criterion version of anything makes me happy !

Well, of my collection that i've catalogued so far, I'd have to say
The Golden Age of Looney Tunes (I have two of the sets)
Se7en Special Edition

Were LD's common in NZ? even in the US i don't feel like they were widely known, I know when I had a player in college, none of my classmates knew what they were or that it was even a format they could watch.
