Hi everyone,

My name is Nicholas, I’m 44 and originally from France. Back in the 90s, I was deeply into Betamax and Laserdisc—those formats were my window into cinematic magic. Life took over, and I put all of that aside for about 25 years… but recently, the nostalgia hit hard, and I’ve come back to Laserdisc for the sheer pleasure of watching films in a more cinematic, tangible way—and to recapture a bit of that youth I left behind.

I’ve had the chance to live in the US, UK, Japan, and Hong Kong. I’m a lifelong fan of Japanese culture and have been learning Japanese for quite a while. As a collector, I tend to gravitate toward Japanese goods—especially vintage electronics—and I consume a lot of Japanese media from both the pre- and post-Showa eras.

I joined this forum as I’m diving back into the format, and I have to say: this place is a gold mine. The passion and knowledge here are amazing. I can’t thank the community enough for reigniting that old spark and bringing back the joy from the days when Laserdisc was king.
