Totally brand new here. But I do have some questions that I have not been able to find answers to and hope that someone here will be able to answer me. My wife bought a Pioneer PR-8210.Never seen one of these before let alone seen one working. How do you hook it up to make it work. I have it hooked up to a newer Sony Bravia. I can hear it spinning but no video or sound. What did I do wrong. I have 4 other players that I can hook up but this one has me stumped.
thanks for any answers.

This is a unit made for arcade systems. It’s super old, even for LD. It may just be busted. If it’s continuing to spin it likely at least thinks it’s playing. Make sure it isn’t paused or in a still frame. Also make sure you are using a CAV disc if possible.

Whenever you have issues with LD it’s best to be testing with a tube TV. Almost anything will work with a tube TV. If you can’t verify that it’s working in general then you can’t yet rule out TV compatibility although Bravias are usually a safe bet.

1st is any transit screw locked??
2nd, you may need some type of coax to RCA or even a coax to coax, you will need to connect this to your TV via the antenna.

I would get a coax cable and then the adapter from coax to RCA then you run your video into the video on your TV if you even have that anymore.
Otherwise you need to connect to where your cable or antenna goes that coax metal plug with threads.

Oh yeah, tune to Channel 3, like an Atari.

EDIT: also, while TVs can be picky, the RCA jacks would be putting out standard analog audio regardless so just hook it to a stereo.

Hey thanks for all your input. I followed your suggestions. I realized that because my tv is digital it did not go to 3 or 4. So I like a dodo put in channel 4 and then 3 and then changed to my antenna input and video and sound. Simple things just go over my head sometimes. But thank you all. Now does anybody want a PR-8210 or know someone who does?
thanks

Please do not mail this player. It’s nothing short of a miracle that this is working now.

This player does have a composite video output to provide a better picture than using the RF antenna output. The only problem is that it has an antenna style connector instead of the normal RCA connector.

To remedy the issue, you can buy a "Coax to RCA" adapter like the one found here.....
