I am fascinated by this database. My father in law was an avid collector of LD's and vinyl. I just acquired his pristine Pioneer Elite CLD-97. It looks like a great piece of equipment. In the process of having my AV guy hook it up. He has about 500 LD's. Most are sealed. Lots of boxed collector sets. Should I open and play them? I'm sure this is a silly question. I have opened ones I can play with. I just started categorizing them all. It's fun.
Thanks for the site.

If you plan to keep them open them up.

If you plan to sell them open them up.

There is no extra value on sealed LDs as of today.

I second rein-o’s thoughts.

Also, best to open them anyway and check for the potential of laser rot.

Nice that you have a CLD-97; definitely one of the best players ever made. I have one too and love it but it’s currently a working paperweight at the moment (no place to set it up just yet as its weight and size works against my current AV racks). ;)
