I finally gave up and bought a LD-player (Pioneer CLD-2950). When I got the player I checked that it works with Alien-ld that I bought years ago and then bought 7 movies from online auction. Picture wasn`t bad at all and player isn`t that noisy that I thought it would be. Money well spent

And at some point, I`m gonna start looking for demodulator.

As a new user, why do you feel fixated on the 5.1 thing? I ask because it’s extremely common for new members to really focus on it even though very few LDs are 5.1. What movies did you buy your player for?

As I have dedicated hometheater-room, I just want to get everything out of the disc (when there is 5.1). But it really isn`t the most important thing. Not gonna stress about it.

I bought The Arrival, Die Hard, Event Horizon, Lethal Weapon, Naked Gun 33, Species and Timecop.
Have watched Die Hard and Timecop and boy, they pack a bunch of bass.

Well if this is how you think go all out and buy separates, don't bother with that stupid black cube decoder get the one with the volume
on the front, you can still connected that to your AV setup.

They made 2 Pioneer models I know of and I've seen some others, focus on that go big or go home I always say.

Pioneer Elite SP-99D is on of them, there was a Japanese gold unit too and I think someone else made one.

You`re great salesman :D . Got exited about that SP-99. And price isn`t that bad.

Yeah, I don’t know what the point is of something like that now. You only need to convert RF modulated AC-3 to digital. Any remotely modern AVR will do the rest. That thing was made for when AVRs had six line ins and no internal surround processing and likely no DTS at all. It’s totally for another era, just a waste of power and space now.

Well there's no real point in any of it now, but if want to be gucci then get the real deal stuff.
I had the Japanese model and it was super easy to use when connecting it to my other HT stuff.

Hi and welcome to the forum

The CLD-2950 never had an AC3 RF Out fitted as standard, back in the day (mid 90s) I had my original purchased from new unit retrofitted so did you get lucky and land one that has also had the mod?

Wait, don’t you just plug it into the right analog out?

THAT WAS A JOKE! A JOKE!!!

That's a well upgraded Pioneer CLD-2950 with AC3RF out.

It usually looks like this:

That does look like a nice job, mine like many others had the socket fitted in the large space below the sticker on the shot Julien provided. Hope your good luck holds out in finding a reasonably priced demodulator though, people seem to want crazy prices these days and especially so all around Europe unfortunately.

Yes you do, no replacement/substitution hardware has surfaced so far.

I honestly thought that outlet was factory made.

That is a very nice mod job. It looks factory since whomever modded it used the same screw mount style RCA jack and it helps they tried to mimic the same labeling style as the other jacks

Tbh @Idfan I honestly thought that looks rather like one of your mods except it’s located on the wrong continent!

Laserdicks repair shop (aka Duncan) used to mod like this. I think he used a label printer for the text but looks engraved on the chassis from distance.
