Hi All. I have a modest LD collection. Haven't looked at them in a long time, but have a renewed interest. I happened on the "The Official Laserdisc Thread" on blu-ray.com last year and forgot how much I enjoyed collecting and learning about the players, etc.
I realized recently that I never post here, so figured I would say hi.

The first player I bought was a Sony back in 2000, which turned out to be a lemon. I did not buy another player until 2006, which was a DVL-919. That one was okay, not great.
My next player was a CLD-R7G, which I bought in 2007 from Nicolas Santini. I had a Sony Bravia at the time and this looked great hooked up through S-Video.
Since then, I have acquired others to test out pic quality. I have an LD-S2, CLD-99 and most recently HLD-X0. I’m amazed how fantastic the picture looks on all three just connecting to my LG 43UM6910PUA 43 inch via composite cable.
I don’t have any particular favorite disc, but tend to gravitate to music videos. I want to check out some of the titles listed in this thread though.

And a slightly belated welcome from the UK

Great to have you onboard - Although noting your joining date you make several of us here look like newbie’s!

My active interest in the format started in the mid 90’s, I also used to have an R7G up until a few years ago and totally agree with your opinion there, sadly not so hot via composite though hence a waste of space when I acquired a Lumagen R2144 processor which works great in conjunction with my HLD-X9 and a couple of other European PAL/NTSC players which I’m sure as you are American won’t be remotely interested in! ;)

Does your interest in music LD’s extend to live concerts or purely music videos?

Thanks!
Most of my interest has been music videos but I’m aware of some concerts not available on DVD or Blu-ray.

I haven’t tried connecting with an additional processor before. Might experiment with that sometime.
