I just got into LaserDiscs and I am enjoying the format immensely. My player is not working though and I was hoping someone here had some sound advice or could help me with the repair.

Its a Pioneer LD-W1. I bought it from a friend on another forum. Was working perfectly before shipped. It is making a hammering sound and the display is blinking. The transport screw was locked before it was sent and I unlocked it. Still nothing.

This was very typical when shipped and if bent it displaces the mode switches for the trays.

No, it does not look bent. Trays wont move, it just makes a hammering sound and the display flashes. I removed the back panel and the wires came unattached by accident which connect to a lever. They are blue and white. Not sure which side goes to which. No more hammering though with the back panel off.

No more hammering though with the back panel off. That's the tray "inside" detect switch. As it's "on/off" it doesn't matter which wire goes to which pin. At the very least these are complex mechanics, lots of internal position switches
