Hi there my name is Pedro and im 21 years old 2 years ago i eard this obscure video format called laserdisc after a few videos and alot of reading i got really interested on the format at first for the giant discs it had but then more from its level of evolution that was spawned in to the newest video formats, but the final nail that made me start to love LDs was the fact that many videos were the original cuts no digital remasters BS that started to hapend in DVD.

So after those 2 years since, Laserdisc is a rare format for my parts i just watched videos from reviews to those awesome demonstration videos from times i cant remember but recently i got my first LD "Indiana jones and the Last Crusade" and i finaly have my first LD player arriving in the mail Shortly a Pioneer CLD-1750 a good thing since i live in PAL territory and this is one of those Hybrid LD players (Something i had to get due to the high cost of PAL LDs)
But yeah i have now registed on here to start enjoying the comunity and i know that if i need any help surely are awesome users here that are glad to help me.

LONG LIVE LASERDISC! :)

Hello konio38,

I enjoyed reading your post Friend,

Welcome to this site and shall look forward to corresponding with you at some stage.

I have found this site to be one of the more friendlier than a number of others that I have experienced, but then again, I have found that the Laserdisc enthusiast are a somewhat different class of customer.

There is something rather unique about Laserdisc and the people that it attracts.

Sincerest Regards

 :D

it all depends on the film, if it is pan and scan.
some are fine, some are only losing 1/2 inch on either side so it's not that big of a deal.

for most of the time i try not to get them but i do have some and they are not that bad.
also it's also a style that will never be done again, if you think about it that's kind of cool
to see how people used to watch films 20+ years ago :eh:

yeah i still remember watching movies with those ratios on TV, but the thing i love about LD is that they keep the original movie intact so for me if a movie is made with that ratio in mind then thats the way it should be viewed. But i understand its something we will never see beeing used again.

Good to see a new kid here who is actually still almost a kid.

I like the way you use the phrase, "the final nail", to describe moving in a positive way toward a goal.

In the US, "the final nail" meant the last nail closing up the old pine or other cheap wood coffins made in the 18th century, and later was a metaphor for a bad end result in a bad situation.
