Hello everyone! I recently got into ld's when I bought a Star Wars A New Hope CBS/FOX 1983 print LD as a souvenir while visiting Japan in 06 . Forward to 2011 I decided to hunt for a LD player because I wanted to watch SW in all its unaltered original glory! I then bought a Pioneer 1070 LD player for 10$ from a garage sale threw in my SW Laser Disc projecting the movie with my Optoma projector onto a 105 inch movie screen. I then fell in love with cinema once again! The original film colours were more real then blu ray or DVD because it has that film feel bringing me back to why I love films so much and to see Han shoot first was awesome!! My next purchase will be Seven criterion and Fight club on LD.

I still feel that Blu rays have their place with certain films like Avatar and transformers and I do like 3d and will always enjoy watching 3d movies on my LG 47 inch display with polarized glasses.

The 1070 was also my first player, although mine cost me more then 10 dollars lol. Just a note laserdisc collecting can become addictive

Thanks guys! I know now that LD collecting is becoming addicting! My latest purchase is an AC3 dolby surround interview with a vampire LD I just need an LD player that can run the AC3 and a demodulator my current receiver a newer pioneer elite doesn't have AC3 built in.

Oh, I love getting AC3/5.1 and DTS out of my players! It is the coolest thing on the planet to see that little DD or DTS beacon light up in your amp's display window!
