New to the forums, new to LDDB for at least a month. I've always loved my LD player, and had about 30 LDs until thanksgiving when I bought a LD player and 69 LDs off Craigslist for my dad. He didn't want it, so I absorbed it and the discs into my collection, which boosted me to 99 discs!!! This only boosted my mild interest to total obsession. But there are NO places around Raleigh to find LDs. This is why my interest frazzled about 5 years ago. the Pawn shops don't have them. Antique stores don't have them. Goodwills don't have them. It's rather dry around here. Where else should I check? Anyone from around Raleigh? |

that's how it is here in TN, i'm supprised when i do fine anything. very slim, but once in a while you will fine one or two at goodwill or something like that, but very limited. only in the big citys like NY, CA, and the likes, when i was in NYC they would be all over but that too dried up about 5-6 years ago. only really ebay and specialty web stores. good luck with collecting, and don't give up the ghost! |

Craigslist. I'm in southeast Michigan, which isn't exactly LA, but even here I find lots of LDs. Craigslist is awesome. You really don't even want a store that carries them used. They're going to be trashed. Buying one-owner collections will give you the best condition stuff. |

i didn't mean that you can't get them locally, it's that there are more in major cities. i'm always shocked when i find them locally at goodwill and such. here if you do find them in record stores they are usually from a collectiona and most are pretty good condition since there are so few that want them. |

I found 15 or so discs at a Goodwill and bought 10 of them, 50 cents each. The cashier didn't know what they were, and I told her- laserdiscs, dead format, movies, etc. When I went back a few days later to see if there were more, the prices were jacked up from 50 cents to 9.99 each! Apparently someone decided "dead format=these are the only ones in existence=raise those prices!" They sat there too for a few months until they got rotated out. |

this is so exciting to finally get to talk about LDs with other fans! ppl on Facebook don't care, they just tell me to update to BluRay. There's just something special about the HUGE artwork on a Laserdisc and etc that make them so awesome. |

Hey, is there a North Carolina Collector Thread? On my Transformers board there's a board where we talk, swap toys, and get together. I'd love to start one but where? Also, today I met a Craigslist guy at Target and got an AMAZING deal for just $20!!! 35 discs and another player ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

thanks! I know my son will love the METALLICA one. I love the T2 box set. only a few doubles:Top Gun and WOZ. But, if the player works, that will be my 3rd...i can prolly hook a player to every TV now..at least the MAIN TVs in the house. Okay, now I will either have 3 crates FULL of LDs...or should i shelf them? Remember, they are the same size as record albums, so I am limited on DEEP and STURDY shelves...what should i do? |

Dang. You really made out with that last lot. Let me know if you want to move the Erasure or Loony Toons discs. |

well, I broke my rule today. I was looking for a cheap BLU-RAY to buy, and the only one that looked interesting was the 25th anniversary of THE LAST STARFIGHTER. But my rule is <2000 on LD, >2000 on Blu-Ray...but when I checked eBay for the BluRay (btw, Target has FREE WIFI) I only found one for $70...um, I'd rather buy the BD for $7.50 and it comes with extras too. |
