Evening all. New to the forum. I'm John, 31 years old from Manchester.
Bought my first laserdisc player - a lovely Pioneer CLD-1750 - about eleven years ago whilst I was at uni for a bargain on eBay. Bought the obvious - Star Wars DE, a few Criterions, Escape from New York. Loved it, but perhaps was too lazy to get up every 45 minutes to turn the disc over.
Fast forward to this Christmas, and decided to see if I could get a player that would change sides. An hour later, made a deal on a wonderful CLD-D925. What a piece of kit. The seller, Rich, said I could have it for £60 (about $100) and he had about twenty discs in the cellar he'd throw in to the deal. When I arrived to pick it up - no way did I want it posted - turns out he actually one hundred and twenty discs. Bargain of a lifetime.
Now back into it pretty hardcore. Picked up some of the Criterions I always wanted - Halloween, Zulu, Silence of the Lambs. Found a Yamaha APD-1 so I can extract all those lovely digital soundtracks, and now basically I'm in hogs heaven. Picking up all the movies that have never moved on from laserdiscs - such as the Tales from the Crypt movies - and annoying the wife tremondously.
Just looking now to find a way to protect my discs, so that leads me to my first question please. Will 12" PVC record sleeves like this:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360156826480? ... 1497.l2649fit a laserdisc?
Anyone who can help assure me, or console me, would be much appreciated.
Cheers everyone.
